"I've stopped six wars" since taking office in January 2025.

Trump had hand in temporary ceasefires around the world but evidence is scant he stopped ‘six wars’

President Donald Trump and his supporters have coined a new nickname for him: the "peacemaker-in-chief."

The White House recently touted several peace deals and ceasefires, some temporary, as feathers in Trump’s cap. The administration says the president cooled hostilities by leveraging both the U.S. military and economic pressure. His supporters argue his actions are worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize, something Trump has sought for years.

"I’ve stopped six wars — I’m averaging about a war a month," Trump said July 28 in Turnberry, Scotland.

He has repeated a version of the line about 10 times.

"Pam Bondi has claimed that Donald Trump has saved the lives of 258 million Americans as she praised the president's first 100 days in office during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, 30 April...The Attorney General said that if not for Mr Trump, approximately 75 per cent of the US population would be dead due to 3,400 kilos of fentanyl having been seized since the Republican took office for his second term... 'Since you have been in office, President Trump, your DOJ agencies have seized more than 22 million fentanyl pills — 3,400 kilos of fentanyl...which saved, are you ready for this, media? 258 million lives,' Bondi claimed."

Thank you, President Trump.

On the road to being another Pol Pot, Stalin or Mao responsible for the deaths of many millions.

We need to coin a term for his Holocaust that’s specific to him

For those who may not be aware, Rosie Ruiz competed in the Boston Marathon. She started the race, then took the subway to the finish line where she crossed as the apparent winner.

Trump's "war stopping" reminds me of her.

For example, he claimed he got peace between India and Pakistan. They regularly have border disputes that never, fortunately, get very big.

He claims he ended a long war between Cambodia and Thailand. They don't credit him with this. In the Democratic republic of Congo, the US had been working for years to resolve the violence. I'm not sure that there is peace now or that anyone from the Trump administration should get credit.

Any US SoS is involved in helping with disputes and many ceasefire are broken quickly. How many times were there ceasefires in Syria or Sudan ... only for violence to continue. A ceasefire is better than fighting, but it is usually the first step towards a real resolution to the underlying problem.

When you look at either Israel/Gaza or Ukraine/Russia it is possible he has made a future resolution harder.

21. MaddowBlog-Trump flubs the details of his own dubious boast about ending 'wars'

“In the six wars that I’ve settled, we haven’t had a ceasefire," the president said. Both parts of that sentence are demonstrably and embarrassingly wrong.

“In the six wars that I’ve settled, we haven’t had a ceasefire," Trump said.

Problem 1: He hasn’t settled six wars.

Problem 2: Most the resolutions he wants credit for have been the result of ceasefires. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

As part of his White House discussions with European leaders about Russia’s war in Ukraine, the American president added a new wrinkle to his dubious boasts. During an Oval Office event alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for example, Trump declared, “I don’t think you need a ceasefire. If you look at the six deals that I settled this year they were all at war. I didn’t do any ceasefires.”

Soon after, as part of a larger discussion with European leaders, he pushed the same line: “In the six wars that I’ve settled, we haven’t had a ceasefire.”

Trump: "In the six wars that I've settled, we haven't had a ceasefire."

....The White House has never released a formal list of the five, six or seven wars that Trump has ostensibly ended, but the president did use his social media platform over the weekend to highlight a list put together by Roger Stone, a longtime GOP operative and Trump ally. It claimed that the president “has achieved peace” between:

India and Pakistan
Israel and Iran
Serbia and Kosovo
Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo
Thailand and Cambodia
Armenia and Azerbaijan
Saudi Arabia, Syria and Lebanon (Abraham Accords)

....In reality, when tensions eased between India and Pakistan, that was a ceasefire. When Thailand and Cambodia stopped firing at one another, that was also a ceasefire. When Israel and Iran stopped trading shots, that, too, was a ceasefire.

In other words, Trump not only can’t keep track of his own dubious claim, and not only can he not back it up with specifics, he’s also flubbing the details of his own boast in ways he really ought to understand
