ICE is outside my granddaughter's summer camp!

My son and his family live in Washington, DC. My 4 YO granddaughter is in a Spanish immersion summer camp for a few weeks. Campers' parents got an email from the school this morning letting them know that ICE agents have been spotted around the school, as well as several unmarked SUVs. Because, you know, we've gotta keep the world safe from pre-schoolers learning a foreign language.

The school is encouraging everyone to go to this link: https://freedcproject.org/allies to send a message to your Senators and Congresspeople telling them to stop the Federal invasion of DC. I've just sent the message to our congresscritters, for what it's worth here in the hellscape of Florida.

Following a shooting by federal agents at a vehicle during an immigration enforcement operation over the weekend, protesters took to the streets Monday demanding accountability from local authorities.

When the driver refused and demanded identification from the officers, one agent shattered the driver-side window and at least three shots were fired as the vehicle drove off, according to footage obtained by KTLA.

The driver later called police, claiming masked men had pursued him and fired at his car. No one was injured in during the initial encounter.

Hours later, police went to the driver’s home on Mountain View Drive, where federal agents and immigrant rights advocates had gathered. Tensions escalated as protestors demanded ICE leave the neighborhood. “It doesn’t seem they’re protecting us,” said one community advocate. “It seems they’re protecting these bounty hunters and kidnappers.”

I saw a video by Rebel HQ of Robert Trudell stopped at a border check point in New Mexico and he totally ignored the ICE agents. Just sat in his car refusing to do anything, wouldn't even speak, the fascist goon kept demanding he roll down his window. This goon though was not wearing a mask and had some kind of insignia on his uniform.

Of course Robert Trudell is a white dude. He specifically does videos showing interactions with cops and how to exercise your rights when pulled over. Not sure an immigrant exercising their constitutional rights would be treated as carefully. The agents just let him sit there for 10 minutes then shrugged and let him go. He did nothing they commanded him to do. He didn't even roll down his window.

H.R. Pufnstuf showed up "in person" at The Don Theater in 1970 when the movie was released.

'The Don' was a popular movie theater in downtown Shreveport from 1947 until it closed in 1983. It had a seating capacity of 1200 people and saw over 2 million attendees between 1947 and 1953 alone which for a city the size of Shreveport at the time is quite remarkable.

Back in 1983, I was working as an actor and I was working with a children's touring show out of Mobile, AL. We almost played The Don! (They moved the performance to another spot at some point, but it was listed as the location at first. I have no idea why. Maybe the closure was imminent?)

It is tough to look at those pictures now, since I am aware of his story as well as the story of his time here in the U.S. doing the show. Let's just say that my boy here was a party animal.
