DOJ Pardon Attorney/"Anti-Weaponization" Attorney Ed Martin is a seriously, seriously bizarre person.

He briefly served as Interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia and was even nominated for that role in a permanent position until the extent of his relationship with Russian state media and his involvement with January 6th insurrectionists became so glaringly apparent even most Republicans couldn't say in good faith he deserved that role. So Trump switched him out with Jeannine Pirro and gave him the Parton Attorney position instead...and also added an "Anti-Weaponization" title to his job duties.

Which essentially means Trump is going to use him for revenge on his perceived political enemies.

This is all disturbing enough, except there's no good way to describe Martin himself except for...weird.

Very, very, very weird.

Extremely weird.

So weird you question if this guy is legit or some sort of long-standing Andy Kaufmann gag.

First of all, there's the matter of his Donald Trump coloring books.

If you thought that now-FBI Director Kash Patel's "The Plot Against the King" children books--featuring Donald Trump as some sort of king, except there's also elections involved, and Kash himself is a wizard or something--were utterly bizarre (and they were most definitely that), Martin somehow manages to even outdo that.

Specifically, he wrote a series of Trump "Covfefe" coloring books.

Yes, coloring books. Titled with Trump's notorious non-sensical Twitter typo imaginary word.

There are at least three of these "authored" by Martin...Covfefe: Top Trump Tweets, Covfefe: Christmas, and Covfefe: Patriot or Traitor, the last of which has a picture of Trump on the cover as well as what we could assume to be James Comey, and whose pages features pictures of Eric and Laura Trump, Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson, a very toothy Melania Trump, and Laura Ingrham and the aforementioned Jeanine Pirro.

The intro for Covfefe: Patriot or Traitor reads as follows:

Covfefe Patriot or Traitor Coloring Book Comic with song based on the book has been released by Really Big Coloring Books®, Inc. in association with Ed Martin and the Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. The 24 page adult comic coloring book features illustrated reenactments of top tweets from the @realDonaldTrump Twitter handle with a scan-able QR code to listen to the song. Dear Fellow American, The true meaning covfefe is love: love for America, her people, and her history. The late Phyllis Schlafly had this love and saw it in Donald J. Trump. And Donald Trump saw this love in Phyllis and spoke at her funeral in September 2016: America has always been about the underdog and always been about defying the odds, the idea that so called little people or the little person that she loved so much, could beat the system, often times the rigged system, that the American grassroots is more powerful than all of the world's special interest put together, and that's the way Phyllis felt. I'm sure she's telling us to keep up the fight, no doubt, no doubt about it. We will never, ever let you down. #CovfefeIsLove. Thank the Lord and @RealDonaldTrump. All the best, @EagleEdMartin President, Phyllis Schlafly Eagles The ColorTones® band performs the song Can t Trump This Covfefe based on the content of the book. Scan the QR code directly from the book to hear the song.

Sadly, there's no trace of the actual Can't Trump This Covfefe song on the intertubes, and I'm not risking permanant damage to my phone by scanning the QR code.

That came out during Trump's first term. Now in Trump's second, unrestrained term, Martin has been assigned to "anti-weaponization" duties. And that apparently means staking out Letita James' home in New York, after penning a typo-written letter to James demanding she resign.

Wearing a trench coat.

In August.

In bright sunlight.

All of this with the type of fashion sense reserved for Inspector Gadget ("Go, Go Gadget Helicopter!" ), or maybe just the neighborhood flashing pervert.

Weird.

Just so, so, so fucking weird.
