Jack White, Kid Rock at center of social media political storms

Jack White is in a war of words with the Trump Administration, and he's not the only Michigan rocker currently embroiled in a political feud at the highest levels of government.

After Jack White lashed out on social media against President Trump's renovations of the Oval Office — in an Instagram post on Monday, White called Trump's makeover of the White House space "a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler's dressing room" and "an embarrassment to American history" — the White House hit back, with White House Communications Director Steven Cheung calling the White Stripes frontman "a washed up, has-been loser posting drivel on social media because he clearly has ample time on his hands due to his stalled career."

Cheung's comments came via The Daily Beast, where he added, "It's apparent (White has) been masquerading as a real artist, because he fails to appreciate, and quite frankly disrespects, the splendor and significance of the Oval Office inside of 'The People’s House.'"

It's not the first time White has teed off on Trump, but it's the first time the Trump White House has responded.

White previously slammed Trump for using the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" in a campaign video, commenting, "Don't even think about using my music you fascists." White sued over the song's use, although the lawsuit was later dropped.

Even if you weren't previously aware of how Trump's postings come across that Fox News has started mentioning Newsom's trolling in Trump style should have been a give away.

So much so, that methinks Trump is a chatbot!

We generally understand how LLM hallucinations work. An AI model tries to generate what seems like a plausible response to whatever you ask it, drawing on its training data to construct something that sounds right. The actual truth of the response is, at best, a secondary consideration.

snip

But over the last few months, it has occurred to me that, for all the hype about generative AI systems “hallucinating,” we pay much less attention to the fact that the current President does the same thing, nearly every day. The more you look at the way Donald Trump spews utter nonsense answers to questions, the more you begin to recognize a clear pattern — he answers questions in a manner quite similar to early versions of ChatGPT. The facts don’t matter, the language choices are a mess, but they are all designed to present a plausible-sounding answer to the question, based on no actual knowledge, nor any concern for whether or not the underlying facts are accurate.

snip

This is not the response of someone working from actual knowledge or policy understanding. Instead, it’s precisely how an LLM operates: taking a prompt (the question about job losses) and generating text based on some core parameters (the “system prompt” that requires deflecting blame and asserting greatness).

The hallmarks of AI generation are all here:
• Confident assertions without factual backing
• Meandering diversions that maintain loose semantic connection to the topic
• Pattern-matching to previous responses (“ripped off,” “billions of dollars”)
• Optimization for what sounds good rather than what’s true

Great article and hard to summarize, because the author gives so many spot-on examples.

What "the media" gets entirely wrong is treating his statements (generated responses) as carefully crafted political strategy, when we have learned to treat AI hallucinations as meaningless babble. By elevating them they participate in the sanewashing of his only cognitive skills: revenge, grift and autocracy.

How about politely informing your boss that most interior decorators don't feel the need to wipe their asses all over the rooms on which they've worked? I'm sure he'll take it the right way...

The real issue is that the White House - the Office of the President of the US - is engaging in pissing contests with halfwitted, dumbass, immature attention seekers.

Of course, when the POTUS is himself a . . .

Well, what else should we expect.

13. Here's the Kid Rock part:
Wed Aug 20, 2025, 02:44 PM

Trump's ally Kid Rock has also been at the center of recent political drama, as the "Bawitdaba" singer has been going back and forth with California governor Gavin Newsom on social media.

Newsom, who has recently taken to posting on X in the style of Trump, recently posted a mock poster of Kid Rock, dressed as Uncle Sam, along with the words, "Kid Rock wants you to support Gavin Newsom." Co-signing the image, Newsom wrote the words "I accept!" above the post.

Rock fired back on Tuesday on X, writing, "The only support Gavin Newscum will ever get out of me is from DEEZ NUTZ."

Newsom then responded, "I HATE KID ROCK !!!," in the style of Trump's Sept. 2024 Truth Social pronouncement, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" Newsom then doubled down on the Rock/ Swift conflation, writing, "HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT SINCE I SAID 'I HATE KID ROCK' HE'S NO LONGER 'HOT?'" the same way Trump declared Swift "no longer hot" after his declaration of hatred toward her in a May 2025 Truth Social post.

Kid Rock is an anti-Bud Light spokesman with a shitty beard.
