Looking back at Heinlein's Future History - coming true before our eyes.

https://davidbrin.blogspot.com/2017/03/looking-back-at-heinleins-future.html

Scifi author and political commentator David Brin writes about Heinlein's predictive book Revolt in 2100. A long read, but worthwhile.

He said this on Facebook about the Zelensky visit:

Giggling MAGAs delight in humiliating our allies, summoning them NOT to a conference table as equals, but to a desk dressing-down like flunkies before the Big Boss. Heinlein - back in the 50s - predicted this coup by the always-simmering religio-fanatic, racist, anti-furriner, anti-science, anti-intellect and anti-fact wing of American life.
Mention that we NEED allies in this world, and they chortle! As they do when we say that we need tact users and things called facts.
Above all, they smell the blood they have wanted since 1865, only this round the confederacy conquered Washington and has its long-sought foreign backers. It still won't work, though.
All they are accomplishing - by bullying the same fact-nerds they nipple-twisted in middle school - is to make us mad. The folks who know cyber, nuclear, bio, nano and the rest.
They will not like us when we're mad.

Thanks this is a treat. Heinlein wrote Revolt in 2100 in the way back days. That streak of proud stupidity and racism has been there hiding inside fundamentalism all along, and now they are bold, looking to take the whole pie.

until I watched the movie Starship Troopers. I read the book and it didn't really come to me, but the movie really showcased it.

Of course I read most of his works when I was in high school, so I was a little clueless.
