PA-GOV: Mastriano Criticizes PA GOP Over Early Gubernatorial Endorsement Process
Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-Adams/Franklin) is criticizing state Republicans for considering an early endorsement process for the partys candidate for governor in 2026.
Speaking on NewsTalk 103.7, Mastriano said he has spoken with fellow state Sen. Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland), who serves as the PA GOP chair, about his concerns.
[My wife] and I had a 90-minute conversation with Greg Rothman, and we both expressed to him our concerns and outrage that the party is going to come in and behind the scenes start coordinating candidates and pushing other people out, he stated. If theyre going to do an early endorsement, it needs to be during the primary process, after the petition drive, when we actually know who wants to run.
During an interview last month with the Philadelphia Inquirer, Rothman indicated that he would like to replicate the partys 2024 successes, when endorsements were made a year ahead of time.
