Robert Reich: Five Ways to Fight Trump's Fascism

Aug 19, 2025

People are constantly asking me — what can I do?

Between now and the 2026 midterm elections, here are five practical steps you can take to make a difference.

1. Call your representatives in Congress.

2. Attend town halls.

3. Join local resistance groups or organize one yourself.

4. Boycott corporations and organizations that are caving to Trump.

5. Protect the most vulnerable in your community.

In my opinion we missed a huge opportunity immediately after the failed coup attempt. There were a few corporations which said that they would not support any politicians involved in the coup.

There was no big public support for these corporations nor was there a big public outcry to prosecute vigorously all of those involved. Most citizens, I mean consumers, just went back to normal. The corporations just drifted back to giving money to politicians "on both sides".
We have only a few levers of power, and our financial power over some corporations should be used far more.

But really, what good does it do to email Rick Scott, Ron DeSantis, Greg Abbott, etc?
