1. that really is a misnomer

Many millionaires do not make anything like a million dollars a year (this is what the tax actually is a tax on income over $1 million). Owning a paid off house in MA and a decent sized investment account would easily make a person a millionaire in MA even if the income to get that was say $200,000 a year.
