Texas, no ballet, plus they are cutting and or downsizing over 100 polling places. Fascism galore.

(13,292 posts)Sure, it has its faults -- our seasons are fire, mudslides and earthquakes -- but its diversity and richness in people and scenic beauty, when combined with a governor who is firing drones up Dementia Don's fat ass, makes it an exciting place to live.
I lived in South Carolina for a while, a state which is literally stuck in the Civil War. My landlord, whose great-great-grandfather was a commadore in the Confederate navy, spent two hours explaining in excruciating detail how the Confederacy was winning the war before it was paused. He was MAGA before MAGA was cool.
Moving to California -- as challenging as it has been at times -- was a breath of fresh air.
Did I mention that California has the fourth largest GDP in the world? That its share of the national GDP is nearly 15%? That it paid ~$234.5 billion in federal taxes last year?
For comparison, Texas contributes approximately 8.2% of all federal income taxes collected in the United States -- ~$128 billion last year.
Give them hell, Gavin! We've got your back!

(3,335 posts)Seems like it takes us weeks, if not months, to get our cases hear, and then it has to wind its way up the appeals process. Yeah, different courts and all, but still
Hardly seems to me like a case that is a hair on fire emergency that would merit their top courts immediate attention.

(43,314 posts)It was the Dhillon Law Group that argued for petitioners before the CA Supreme Court, and the Elias Group isn't listed. It was likely the AG Bonta's team who represented the State of California, and Marc Elias just reported on the case and its outcome.

(43,314 posts)didn't represent anyone; they're just reporting. Though they're not listed on court filings or the judge's Order, it was likely CA's AG Bonta whose legal team represented the State of California.
