Does anybody know... Can other states follow TX and CA, and gerrymander in time for 2026?

If so, which ones? Both red and blue.

Bonus if you know whether this is already in progress and what the stakes are, number-wise.

Thanks in advance!

But it requires a change to our Constitution.

Now I'm saying that in a MAJOR election year. We have 11 weeks to go - and then we can broach the discussion.

A change to our State Constitution requires 3 months public notice and 2/3 in the Assembly and Senate.

Normally a change would require a public referendum. But if they write it correctly - it could be done by them as a Security issue. We don't HAVE to follow the rules anymore. NONE of us have to. That's status quo thinking.

Let's move fast and break things.

We currently have 52 of 80 assembly seats. 53.3 is 2/3 of that.

We currently hold 25 of the 40 Senate seats: 26.67 is 2/3 of 40

We only need to pick off one Assembly Member and one Senate member to get there.

It's not IMPOSSIBLE! Keep the faith.

This was supposed to be a huge 'change' election. Don't think so.

I think it's the exact same perfect storm as we had in 2019. Magapublicans (then Republicans - but the party is something different, dark, unAmerican, and evil) have a national Magapublican party problem.

We flipped our LD-16th Democratic when it used to be all magapublican during the 1st Krasnov Admin.

NY and IL.

Other blue states already have all Dem reps or just 1-2 republicans.

But FL, GA and other red states could redistrict and eliminate 6-8 more Dem seats.

It could make it harder for Dems to regain the house, but if the economy continues downhill and there’s a blue wave in 2026, it’s far from certain this ploy could work for republicans.

Chris Smith in the 4th District and has been in Congress since 1981. He maintains a small apartment in his District -but his beautiful spacious home is in Virginia.

Jeff Van Drew in the 2nd Turned Traitor and flipped from Democratic to magapublican party in 2020.

I have absolutely no problem getting these three little fucker heads out of Congress through re-redistricting.

They are all Super Magapublicans -like die hard. They are an embarrassment and against New Jerseyans. They only care about white supremacist people in Arkansas - zero fucks about us.

Governor Hot Wheels (am I allowed to write that or am I being a Big Meanie Poopy head?) said yesterday:

"What the Democrats have done is disgraceful and potentially illegal. If California is trying to squeeze out more republicans [sic] there will be lawsuits that overturn that."

Look up - is that Confirmation Bias for you? It's a fair question.

What he actually did was continue the mental beat down for the past 40 years to get magapublicans AND non-magapublicans to believe the reinforced message:

"Democrats have no legitimate claim to power."

Boils down to deliberately misrepresenting HOW this is being done and WHY it is being done.

I get it . . . not everyone cares about Black voters. But Gavin Newsom does. It might break the brain to read that -

But it's true. The Texas magapublicans do not like Black people, and don't want people that look like me to vote.

The Californian PEOPLE who will be voting on this in November - get to tell us if they think we count and should be able to vote. Not your little dictator in Washington DC showing his white supremacist fat orange ass for the entire world to see.

i guess you are okay with the disenfranchisement of Black Americans and making us go back and re-litigate it ALL over again. BTW - my grandfather and his father ALWAYS vote in Alabama. My great grandfather was the child of slaves.

Know how they did it? They were heavily armed and took no shit when they were up in that bitch paying EVERYONE Else's way. So they went with guns.

They were awesome! I love my ancestors. They did not take shit from low key or blatant white supremacists.

35. The Constitution
Fri Aug 22, 2025, 10:06 AM
Aug 2025

says a lot of things. One premise is that the majority does not rule the rights of the individual. Thats one of the core purposes of The Constitution. In this argument, that revolves around representation.
In a state such as TX is currently administered by Republicans, that majority does not allow for stripping said states Democrats of representation. This is unethical, regardless of what President Obama has to say about legalities. Two things can be true at the same time. If California Democrats (who are the majority leadership there) vote to redistrict for the purpose of diminishing the representation of the states Republicans, that is unethical and goes against the spirit of the system overall. They may be dirty Republicans, but they are entitled as individuals to representation as much as anyone else.

Ref The Constitution that you used in your argument a few posts back.
The Constitution provides a mechanism to distribute the balance of representation, not elimination it, and that is what gerrymandering does.
It's wrong, and it doesn't matter how you frame it, it will remain wrong.
If you consider it to be acceptable practice, then you have to accept that what TX Republicans are doing is also acceptable. I disagree with that premise. It is not acceptable.

Politics isn't about morality. Toss that idea out. That myth is how Republicans have destroyed our democracy.

This is a war for our democracy. If we let the Republicans get a super-majority in Congress AND in most state legislatures, they will rewrite the U.S. Constitution and we won't like what it says, at all.

Kiss the Bill of Rights goodbye.
