Thank you California Democrats

Watching the redistricting vote now.

It's like balm for the soul to see Democrats in power, with power, and using their power.

Thank you for holding the line and giving us hope in this dark time.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/california-supreme-court-denies-gop-request-hold-dem/story?id=124834564

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday night denied a petition from Republican state legislators requesting that the court mandate lawmakers wait 30 days before taking any action on legislation that could put new congressional maps in front of voters in November...

"Today's Supreme Court decision is not the end of this fight," State Sens. Tony Strickland and Suzette Martinez Valladares, Assemblyman Tri Ta and Assemblywoman Kathryn Sanchez wrote.

"Although the Court denied our petition, it did not explain the reason for its ruling. This means Governor Newsom and the Democrats' plan to gut the voter-created Citizens Redistricting Commission, silence public input, and stick taxpayers with a $200+ million bill will proceed. … We will continue to challenge this unconstitutional power grab in the courts and at the ballot box. Californians deserve fair, transparent elections, not secret backroom deals to protect politicians."

Meanwhile, the California legislature came one step closer on Wednesday to advancing Gov. Gavin Newsom's redistricting legislative package, which calls for a November special election where voters will be asked to weigh in on proposed new Congressional maps.

Charles T. Munger, Jr."

I google him and found this: https://www.politico.com/newsletters/california-playbook/2025/08/19/scoop-how-dems-are-preparing-to-torch-a-megadonor-fighting-ca-redistricting-00513926

Scoop: How Dems are preparing to torch a megadonor fighting CA redistricting
By DUSTIN GARDINER and BLAKE JONES 08/19/2025 09:00 AM EDT

MUNGER GAMES — Charles Munger Jr., the megadonor backing Republicans’ effort to block "Democrats from redrawing California’s congressional map, has primarily been known to the public as the bow-tie-wearing champion of good-government causes like independent redistricting and legislative transparency."

"But there’s a lesser-known aspect of Munger’s financial giving that Democrats are preparing to torch him on."

"Munger, a Palo Alto physicist, has contributed more than $158,000 to socially conservative causes over the last 25 years, according to federal tax filings — including to organizations that oppose abortion rights and promote so-called crisis pregnancy centers, and to Christian groups whose leaders have opposed LGBTQ+ rights."

The article goes on to describe what a butt this guy is.

I hope we have big glossy flyers coming out also, to counter these lies.

Also glad decided to be a Democrat age 15 when living in Bay Area for school.

Born in Eureka, home has always been on the lower Klamath River inland from Redwood National Park.

Lived and worked in Bay Area, several other rural California communities as a in 20s and early 30s. Later in Portland and Corvallis in late 30s and early 40s. Managed to get much education but have been hunkered down since 2002. Have not been to a city since 2003 except had a cancer surgery in 2020 near Sacramento.

Seldom leave home. Now old, poor, declined health and non-technical but have the mountains and forests for solace. Not convenient but feel estranged from the World and less anxious just staying put.

Ageing is a humbling process.

Thank you for your optimism and good words for California. Much good for the USA originated in California.
