It finally occurred to me. What are the top three characteristics that describe Trump? Well, they might be that 1.) He is power-acquistive and thus conspiratorial; 2.) He loves gold and would not just tout his infamous gold (plated) toilet but everything else that he would if he could dip in that elemental metal -- although so-called golden showers are not out of the question. 3 ) in service to building up his ego, his power base and his bank account, he lies freely.
Now is there any other man in western cultural legend who matches these very key characteristics? Yes there is. I refer you to the 1965 James Bond spy movie "Goldfinger," in which the evil enemy is Auric Goldfinger, a rich European businessman whose activities have attracted the attention of western intelligence services. Played by veteran actor Gert Frobe, novelist Ian Fleming's super villain looked in the film version remarkably like Donald J. Trump -- See a publicity photo from the film: link:
There was one significant deviation: while Goldfinger killed his jilted female sex partners by painting them gold, Trump paints his own face gold.
But, like Trump, Goldfinger cheats at golf.
One other remarkable crossover: In the film, British agent Bond investigates Goldfinger's plot to raid Fort Knox, the U.S. gold reserve repository, in order to profit from the massive worldwide financial crisis that would result. In real life, Trump's first Treasury secretary made junket to the Kentucky fort, accompanied by his wife and causing a flap because they flew there on a requisitioned military jet. No word on whether the pilot was Pussy Galore.
In his second term Trump and some of his lieutenants have made noise about missing U.S. gold -- some or all of it -- at Fort Knox. Fake concerns, of course.
Goldfinger planned to hide his tracks by setting off an atomic bomb after he departed. Trump perhaps regards his slashing of federal social spending and more huge tax cuts for billionaires as politically problematic, and so as usual is setting up a cop-out story. And maybe pulling a new version of the Musk extractive DIGE raids on government staffing data and funds
On the other hand, when the film "Goldfinger" opened, a youthful Trump (he was around age 19 at the time) might have identified with Goldfinger. Hence his eventual gold-acquisitive and Fort Knox obsessions. Calling Agent Double-0 Seven!
