Trump Administration 10% Stake in Intel - Talk me through this

Apparently the United States Government, or if you prefer, the Trump Administration is taking a 10% stake in chip maker Intel. That’s about $11 billion in stock. I’m not even clear on if we are buying it or what. What are the pluses and minuses of this? Trying to have a serious discussion.

Who or what department of the gov't will handle these investments? The Treasury? Exactly where do the profits go? Will there be a public notification of stock sales or Treasury deposits?

Okay... 3 questions.

7. Great! Now Intel could now have embedded malware and spyware or 'enhanced' Intel Management Engine on its chips.

Foreign countries will start avoiding them for fear of some type of fascist value added enhancement.

or the guy who THINKS he is king of the world?

I'm betting there's a clause in there someplace that says he owns it when he leaves office.

Public utilities, government healthcare, public schools but I can’t see how government chip makers makes any sense. It’s a highly competitive and innovative industry. I think this is a case where regulated free market capitalism is the way to go.

13. Interesting. Jut saw a video that Russian Kh-59 Missiles used Intel computer chips that are currently sanctioned.

Starting at the 4:46 mark.

Russia might have alternate means to these components.
