After a UN hunger monitor on Friday declared for the first time that famine had struck northern Gaza, Israel vehemently denied the reports as lies and modern blood libel, and the United States appeared to dismiss the declaration as part of a false narrative of deliberate mass starvation from Hamas.
Earlier Friday, the United Nations Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) system officially declared a famine in parts of the Gaza Strip, saying that an estimated 514,000 people or nearly a quarter of the enclaves population are experiencing famine, and that number is expected to rise to 641,000 by the end of September.
The IPC report stated that data analyzed between July 1 and August 15 showed clear evidence that thresholds for starvation and acute malnutrition have been reached. Gathering data for mortality has been harder, the monitor acknowledged, but said it was reasonable to conclude from the evidence that the necessary threshold has likely been reached.

(6,019 posts)of the Palestinian people, one of the biggest problems with Netanyahu's "boy who cried wolf" is that real antisemitism is on the rise globally and this is going to make it worse in the long run. The evidence is so overwhelming that Netanyahu and his administration are committing crimes against humanity in Gaza that legitimate accusations of antisemitism are going to be met with "its just another Netanyahu-like cover up of crimes against humanity." Even though it is wrong, people will use Netanyahu's inhumanity to behave with inhumanity against all Jews. As such, Netanyahu is quite possibly the single most antisemitic person alive today. Never again doesn't mean never again unless we are the one's doing it, it means never again, period. I have roots in Judaism and Palestine and the level of hatred I have for Netanyahu is immeasurable!
