The Pacific Northwestâs cherry crop was expected to be a boon for farmers this year. The fruit this season was high quality, and production was up compared to last year. But with a shortage of migrant workers early in the season and then high prices at the grocery store, it was more of a bust.

(61,094 posts)The higher price means fewer can or will buy them at that price. The supply/demand curve explains it.

(9,372 posts)If you don't have the workers to harvest it, it's not an oversupply. It's an excessive waste.

(7,970 posts)I shop at a Union grocery and had no idea any of this was going on. I knew about the tRUMP immigrant worker harassment policy but was happy to see them at a reasonable price. This is the only time I buy them. Now I'll wait another 11 months. I hope the fat, orange imbecile is taking his dirt nap by then.

Probably depends on sourcing.
Note that we're rather distant from the PacWest here north of Houston.
