Given that the nomination cutoff for the Peace Prize was 2/28/2025, it seems unlikely that Newsom was nominated for something that they care about, such as ending nuclear weapons proliferation.

Actually, Bob Dylan won the Nobel prize for Literature, not the Peace Prize. The Nobel prizes for Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature, and Economic Sciences are awarded in Stockholm, Sweden, while the Nobel Peace prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway.

Gavin Newsom isn't that wellknown outside the US, and most of his policies/comments are aimed at the domestic audience.

The Nobel Peace Prize should be awarded to Nicolas Yann Guillou of France, Nazhat Shameem Khan of Fiji, Mame Mandiaye Niang of Senegal, and Kimberly Prost of Canada.

They are the ICC judges sanctioned by Trump for pursuing war crimes charges against Netanyahu's genocidal regime.

Trump wants the prize because he thinks he deserves everything. They won’t sell it to him and he has done nothing to deserve it. So as a joke, Swalwell is saying that Trump’s nemesis, Gavin Newsom, will be awarded the prize this year. This type of joking is called trolling.
