They are not capable of introspection. But I'm sure they are scared crapless. They all wish for a strong man to tell them what to do and make things better. It's why they call Trump "Daddy". It's sick, really.

Nor about governmental overreach. Maybe it’s about giving the right demographic a specious sense of power over the bigger picture by putting other demographics under their boots?

all their high and mighty bullshit back then ...

The country was still in a place where they had to put a pretty veneer on things, but it was so obvious it wasn't REALLY about the constitution, founding fathers, family, god, etc. because what they wanted to do when they yapped about that shit didn't really square with those things.
