This is interesting: Rick Wilson on Dem's falling numbers of voter registration--PAY the volunteers; we have the money!

Spoken like an old-style GOP pol, and a very successful one at that. That comment is a couple of minutes in. What do you think?

He quotes sums of money from various Dem pots (all public record) and I was gobsmacked at the obviousness and simplicity of the notion.

We've got a lot of ground to make up, so we need to do whatever we can (legally, of course) to get folks registered and to the polls. They should get right on that!

...I wish he'd pony up some cash to our local organization. We're struggling to pay rent and expenses on our very modest office. If we didn't have volunteer voter registrars, we wouldn't have any voter registration at all. They say Dems are out of touch...HE's out of touch with the realities on the ground. Local parties are struggling!

If we are having difficulties NOW, why aren’t we using it NOW in ways known to be effective? If local parties are struggling, why is National not coming up with plans for disbursing money in very specific and targeted ways?

I think it is a good point.

…for whom I did a lot of volunteer voter reg, and wonder what he would think, given his 50-State Strategy.

10. Volunteer deputy registrars could then focus on targeting harder to reach folks.

Those who have never registered or participated in voting. Those will take friendly, patient conversation without arm-twisting. That would free up the time, but would require a plan and leadership.
