Judge Xinis: Your clients are *absolutely forbidden* from removing Mr. Abrego from the continental United States. You understand this?
— Joshua J. Friedman (@joshuajfriedman.com) 2025-08-25T18:14:29.849Z
DOJ: Yes.
Abrego attorney Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg: We've heard from our client that he is now being held in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I would request that in interim order, you order that ICE hold Abrego within 200 miles of hearing, for access to attys.

Judge Xinis: Are you concerned he'll move tonight?
— Joshua J. Friedman (@joshuajfriedman.com) 2025-08-25T18:22:19.638Z
Abrego attorney: That's exactly our concern.
Judge: Mr. Ensign, can you assure court he won't be moved?
DOJ: Not authorized at this moment, but can ask client
Judge Xinis: Then I will order that he not be moved from current detention facility, principally to have access to both criminal and habeas counsel. Clear?
— Joshua J. Friedman (@joshuajfriedman.com) 2025-08-25T18:23:42.037Z
DOJ: Yes.
Judge: Do you need me to put this in writing now, or will my oral pronouncement suffice?
DOJ: Oral suffices
(Hearing ends, will hear more tomorrow at 10 a.m.)
— Joshua J. Friedman (@joshuajfriedman.com) 2025-08-25T18:24:21.748Z
Xinis: And you understand there are currently two injunctions in place that prohibit his removal
— Anna Bower (@annabower.bsky.social) 2025-08-25T18:14:01.539Z
Ensign: We understand that both of those prohibit removal of Abrego from US during window of those orders
Xinis: I'm taking that as officer of the court as full intent to abide by those orders...

(11,796 posts)Pam will say 'I didn't do it', and then what?
District court judges are gonna have to be done with this due deference and benefit of the doubt nonsense, and start jailing responsible parties for ignoring valid court orders.
LET trump have a whole fit, who among us really cares what he wants at this point.
I've got 20 bucks says he gets disappeared again before a jury can return a not guilty verdict

We are in a fascist state at the moment. The only way out is a Congress that can impeach and convict Trump while blocking anything he needs to ensure his power. And Trump intends to use the military to win the next midterm.

(9,150 posts)I'm amazed at the number of people who continue to accept the BS line that the deployment of the military in cities is because supposedly the fascists care about black people getting shot etc. It's about gaining experience and knowledge for what is to come.

Corrupt courts taking bribes and letting our democracy die is what we are looking at.

Judge temporarily blocks Trump from deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda www.msnbc.com/deadline-whi...

The temporary reprieve from U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis during a hearing on Monday afternoon came quickly after Abrego was detained on Monday morning when he reported to immigration authorities in Maryland, following his release from criminal custody in Tennessee on Friday. Before his release from criminal custody, the government offered him a plea deal that would have resulted in his deportation to Costa Rica, which, like his birth country of El Salvador, is a Spanish-speaking country in Central America. But after his release, the government said it intended to deport him to the African nation of Uganda. His lawyers then filed a new lawsuit in Maryland to challenge his latest detention and impending removal.
Abrego had been living in Maryland when the government illegally sent him to El Salvador in March, despite a 2019 court order that barred his removal to that country for his fear of persecution there. The U.S. government resisted court orders to return him until June, when it brought him to Tennessee to face charges of unlawfully transporting undocumented immigrants. He pleaded not guilty.
Xinis, an Obama appointee, is the judge who initially ordered his U.S. return.

(43,534 posts)after what the judge says, he adds to his reputation as a "president" gone rogue.
A president gone rogue is more what we have here than full-blown fascism. He does not have the military under his wing. He only has part of the courts beholden to him, and the SC only hears about 20 cases a year, so that's of dubious value.
I could go on and list other reasons, but I'd rather point out that I'm not about to give him credit for something he hasn't accomplished. That just makes me a sucker for his falsehoods. It would make me feel like I'm living a lie, something trump or other people can't make me do.
Newsom is doing a splendiferous job of making him The Fool. I prefer to lend my support to the ridiculous rather than create a falsehood that he's taken over the government.
