Thune introduces new ban on flag burning. What I think will happen if it ever passes.

Protestors will imitate the gun rights strategy --- Burn cloths that almost look exactly like the American flags but aren't.

I see it as a pointless exercise in legislation.

I'm aware that John Thune, the fascist GOP South Dakotan has long called for passage of a constitutional amendment to outlaw flag burning.

Is there some other legislation Thune has proposed that I'm unaware of?

4. He did no such thing.

He ran his mouth. His executive order does not even ASK that a new federal crime be created, punishable by anything (let alone the 1 year penalty he spouted off about). All it does is declare that he expects the DOJ to enforce existing law which have zero to do with flag burning, if the offense happens to involve burning a flag.

For example - child endangerment if you happen to burn a flag in a space that would be likely to injure a child; open burning laws - if you happen to use a flag as kindling in an area in which open burning is prohibited, etc.

Please read the executive order and don't spread the nonsense he spouted in his press conference.
