It was so groveling and sycophantic that it would have embarrassed Kim Jung-Un. Absolutely cringe.

(285 posts)One thing is for sure: The Felon would not recognize the truth if it hit him square in the head.
But he never lets the facts stand in the way of a good yarn.
He claimed that Maryland Governor Wes Moore told him he was doing a great job, then turned around and bashed him to the media.
I would love to sell anyone the Brooklyn Bridge who believes that or anything else the Orange Maniac slobbered at the start of that meeting.

(43,534 posts)This is another sign that he continues to unravel. Some staff member, probably Susie, set this up to assuage his pathetic ego.
Why is he unraveling? Because he's been told by his docs there's nothing more they can do for him. He knows he's out of time and he has been a failure in trying to bail himself out to get into "heaven." He's still low man on the "totem pole."
Notice how they have had him redecorating the WH in the past 4--5 months? The concrete paving of the Rose Garden. The gold crap plastered all over the office. All those idiotic paintings of himself, and re-arranging where Barack Obama's picture is? Even outdoor pictures, remember those?
Earlier sense&sensibility posted about a sign he had erected that exclaims he is the president and he can do what he wants. Have you ever heard of another president saying something like this? Who needs to do that? Only someone who sees his just a figurehead because his brain is now mush.
Only someone who knows his time is up.
He'll get crazier and crazier as his health declines. As bad as this is, he's going to get worse. He probably will order more Nat'l Guard into American cities.

(8,103 posts)the President, and I can do what I want" is a churlish thing to say. But, one of my most cherished memories of Obama came in a clip of a cabinet meeting. Someone was complaining about something to Obama's face, asking him why he got to choose, or do something, I can't quite remember, but Obama replied, with a hint of amusement, "Because I'm the President." He said it immediately, smooth and calmly, and the complainer had no answer.
That is not the same as what rump said, but it did show that Obama wasn't power struck, and perhaps the complainer was so relaxed that he had to be reminded of who was in charge. Obama was a darling man. Maybe he spoke differently behind closed doors, we all do, but it was a fun moment.
I think rumpy was somewhat hiding his hands.

(8,103 posts)he would be announcing the cause of autism in a couple of weeks. What a miracle, this worm-infested brainiac knows more about autism than all the researchers over the years! How lucky we are! But, how much you wanna bet that he announces getting shots as the reason, a hypothesis that was debunked years ago. Or, the fixing agent does it, which has been removed and would have caused less autism, not more, as they claim there is.
He's going to get a medal! Covid is coming back, and he has fucked up the HHS so much that we will be on our own. Thanks, Bobby!

(182,091 posts)The presidents Cabinet meetings from his first term were sycophantic and cringe-worthy. In his second term, theyre worse.
In Trumpâs first term, his groveling White House Cabinet meetings became a national punch-line.

In his second term, theyâre even more cult-like. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Though it hardly seemed possible, eight years later, the conditions have become even more cringe-worthy. The New York Times published a great analysis of the Republicans latest Cabinet meeting:
There in the Cabinet Room which is starting to take on the gilded-cage look of Mr. Trumps Oval Office all of the presidents men and women took their turns, each working a little bit harder than the last to offer Mr. Trump praise and to assure him that they were working to tackle his long list of grievances.
.....In one especially memorable example, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer who recently spent thousands of dollars on a giant picture of the president that now hangs on the front wall of the Department of Labors headquarters told Trump, Mr. President, I invite you to see your big, beautiful face on a banner in front of the Department of Labor, because you are really the transformational president of the American worker. ... I was so honored to unveil that yesterday.
Lori Chavez-DeRemer: "Mr President, I invite you see your big beautiful face on a banner in front of the Department of Labor because you are really the transformational president of the American worker, along with the American flag and President Roosevelt."
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-08-26T17:42:01.140Z
......For Americans, a display like this one is jarring and unfamiliar, but for some international audiences, the White House gathering might seem more familiar. As The Washington Post reported, The meeting ... bore similarities to meetings of ministers in other countries where leaders have sought to exert strong, personal control over large stretches of national life, scholars said, including in Russia and Turkey.
Andrea Kendall-Taylor, the director of the Transatlantic Security Program at the Center for a New American Security and a former intelligence analyst in the first Trump administration focused on Russia, told the Post, It is definitely a widespread phenomenon with a lot of these personalist leaders.
