(196,494 posts)It was a beautiful sunny day in DC yesterday. They do this all the time.
It looks like they are in a bunker or its some dark drab day. Thus cant be a security issue with the whole cabinet in one room- the WH is secure.
Is it a lighting thing for his ego and image?
Are they trying to make it look tough or foreboding?
IT WAS A NICE DAY for crying out loud.

(32,354 posts)The only thing funnier is trump's obvious need and appreciation of that hysterical ass-kissing.
What a sad country we've become, in just a matter of a few months. Would you ever have believed we could fall this far, this fast? My devout hope is that Republicans (if they're still around) are living down this shameful behavior, a century from now.

(196,494 posts)Teleworking yesterday and needed to take the dog for a walk. I knew Fox would carry it.
The whole thing was 3 hours long - as long as The Godfather as someone sarcastically observed.
I get back and start it. Typical Trump BS. I wanted to get to the groveling so I scroll through it
all Trump on the screen
at 45 minutes they had some young lady (plant) not ask a question but praise Trump how safe she felt in DC now
..off Trump went again.
Fox cut away at 55 minutes. Basically all Trump running his stupid mouth.

(179,857 posts)The presidents Cabinet meetings from his first term were sycophantic and cringe-worthy. In his second term, theyre worse.
In Trumpâs first term, his groveling White House Cabinet meetings became a national punch-line.

In his second term, theyâre even more cult-like. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Though it hardly seemed possible, eight years later, the conditions have become even more cringe-worthy. The New York Times published a great analysis of the Republicans latest Cabinet meeting:
There in the Cabinet Room which is starting to take on the gilded-cage look of Mr. Trumps Oval Office all of the presidents men and women took their turns, each working a little bit harder than the last to offer Mr. Trump praise and to assure him that they were working to tackle his long list of grievances.
.....In one especially memorable example, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer who recently spent thousands of dollars on a giant picture of the president that now hangs on the front wall of the Department of Labors headquarters told Trump, Mr. President, I invite you to see your big, beautiful face on a banner in front of the Department of Labor, because you are really the transformational president of the American worker. ... I was so honored to unveil that yesterday.
Lori Chavez-DeRemer: "Mr President, I invite you see your big beautiful face on a banner in front of the Department of Labor because you are really the transformational president of the American worker, along with the American flag and President Roosevelt."

......For Americans, a display like this one is jarring and unfamiliar, but for some international audiences, the White House gathering might seem more familiar. As The Washington Post reported, The meeting ... bore similarities to meetings of ministers in other countries where leaders have sought to exert strong, personal control over large stretches of national life, scholars said, including in Russia and Turkey.
Andrea Kendall-Taylor, the director of the Transatlantic Security Program at the Center for a New American Security and a former intelligence analyst in the first Trump administration focused on Russia, told the Post, It is definitely a widespread phenomenon with a lot of these personalist leaders.
