How long will Trump play this game? Through the 2026 election?
Are they able to leave their jobs for extended periods of time to act as props for Trump's "War on America"?
Who's paying their mortgage, car payment, food bills, etc.?
How does their family get the support they need when they aren't home?
What this will probably do is damage the Guard's overall readiness.

I could be wrong but this seems quite insulting to the troops. Trump exclaimed and lied about the out-of-control crime in D.C. and then puts guardsmen and women to work picking up trash because they don't have enough crime to fight. Not a good look for the Commander in Thief.

We don't need armed servicepeople to do this. Hire some unemployed people at $20/hour and you'll get the same results.

but National Guard members don’t need to be pulled from their families and jobs to do this.
