This is at a Catholic church/school. "A shooter near Annunciation Church in south Minneapolis has been contained, the city said, and witnesses reported several children were shot during a school Mass. First responders said there were at least 20 victims, according to emergency dispatch audio."

This is maybe a mile and a half from me, across the street from the grocery store I usually shop at and where I was planning to go later this morning. It's always disturbing when these things happen, and they happen far too often, but when it's this close to home...

(131,231 posts)are disturbed young men who felt they never got any attention in their lives and at least this way they will finally be famous. It's hard to understand, but this seems to be the pattern. We'll find out soon enough whether that's the case here.

(39,127 posts)The motive is typically something convoluted like "I'll make you hurt the way I hurt so you recognize my pain".
We've got 2 types of mass shooters in this country: these suicidal crazy incels, and the urban youth who spray bullets in drive-bys (which happened yesterday in MPLS).
Deploying the National Guard isn't going to do jack about stopping the former. The latter?

(39,127 posts)If you have APCs patrolling the most-affected neighborhoods (or nightclubs), at best it would tamp down those shootings temporarily.
There are just too many guns on the streets, and male anger is a societal constant.

The big news in the NL was a 17 year old girl was stabbed to death at 1:30 am when she was biking home. It's been headlines for over a week. Horrifying but I don't miss the US...😭

(131,231 posts)apparently the shooter was specifically targeting the church, shooting children at a school mass. It never stops...
