(3,120 posts)should all reflect on the potential consequences of villainizing certain groups of people. The target was Christians again this time.
There are crazy people out there, we all know it, and eventually one of them will act out on what they have been taught.
Now, children are dead, AGAIN.
I don't give a single damn what side of an argument someone may be on, hatred is evil no matter who it comes from. Even in this very thread there is Christian mockery going on. Tropes become stereotypes, and eventually in the minds of many, become a preferred truth because it serves their hatred. Adults should be able to recognize this and refrain.
Some people quite literally have no shame. I am absolutely disgusted by the garbage I'm reading online right now, including this forum.
We have people hating white, male, Christian, 2A people, MAGA, Trump, Republicans... and if you keep reading, the mentally ill, trans people, gay people, Democrats, feel free to add more of the obvious to this list. The point is, society needs to grow the hell up and stop with this hatred. Watch soap operas or something if drama is that badly needed and stop taking it out on each other.
We are supposed to be better

(17,761 posts)That doesn't mean that I won't still be doing everything I can to get common sense gun laws. I grew up in Uvalde. I believe in prayer, but prayer does NOT excuse someone from action and common sense. The evangelical crazies have used "thoughts and prayers" as a shield to keep from being criticized for their inaction for far too long.
They almost "dare" anyone to tell them that's not enough because, after all, it's them beseeching God to stop something. Well, God allows free will and that means that bat shit crazy, mentally ill, or evil people do things. There needs to be common sense laws to protect school children from that. God will allow free will to make those necessary legal changes, too. Thoughts and prayers is just a stupid phrase without action behind it.
I'm sure that nothing will change after this tragedy, and we will be on to the next one. But I will be damned if I will sit here and not state truth. I am tired of little children - INNOCENTS - being killed because we can't have simple common sense.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
