Monday's order calls for the creation of "an online portal for Americans with law enforcement or other relevant backgrounds and experience." Agency heads then "shall each deputize the members of this unit to enforce federal law."
Alec Karakatsanis, the executive director of the Civil Rights Corps, described it in a post on X as "an online portal to permit random fascist vigilantes to join soldiers," adding that it was "one of the scariest things I've seen in US politics in my adult life."...

(1,187 posts)This criminal presidents unlawful decrees should be ignored and are as meaningless as his delusional rambling tweets.
But I don't see Dem leaders saying those things, so he will get away with it.

(21,865 posts)IIRC, the rapid response force is only 1,700 personnel- not even enough to control a medium size city.

(29,072 posts)Absolutely brownshirt territory.
Possse Commitatus does not apply to LE.
And no doubt they will use emergency $ so they can easily bypass the MAGA legislative branch.
Effectively would create a 2 tier system
1. Federal NG reaction force as political enforcers (SS)
2. An online portal to identify RW nuttos like proudboys, KKK and friends to be deputized LE as more as a shock and political intimidation force (SA/Brownshirts)
This crap has Miller's and Hegseth's fingerprints all over it.

(21,865 posts)The EO specifically applies to active duty military, who cannot be legally deputized as LEOs to circumvent Posse Comitatus.
Just more distractions from Epstein, the failing economy and Trumps failures in general.
This EO will meet the same fate as Alligator Alcatraz, soon to be an empty ghost town/prison.

(21,865 posts)Yes, its serious, and I expect it will be a colossal failure, with the risk of mass casualty events before it gets shut down.
