This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.
Remember this before you order your next pumpkin spice latte.

(3,145 posts)for the last several years because they are anti-union. Although I have never had a union job, I am in solidarity with the workers. I believe if a company is anti-union, they're anti-worker. Starbucks seems to go above and beyond just being against unions; they will fight unionization all the way up to the Supreme Court. So they don't get any of my business anymore.
So far, I haven't found any chai tea lattes I like as much as Starbucks, but I keep looking.

(3,498 posts)They clog their drive thru and then block a lane of traffic for a quarter mile. (In N Out also)
I get off the freeway, hang a right and almost rear end stopped charbuks assholes!
It's burnt coffee, and suckers are hooked. Just like heroin, they must have their fix.
I would not be surprised if they find an addictive additive besides caffeine.

I was at charbuks three times, always as a guest. One in San Fran. Still burnt.

(27,558 posts)Make my own coffee at home. Im have a Starbucks gift card that I havent used.
Back in 2013 I was still working in the downtown area of my city and one day a week I had to start work at 6;00am and I used to go to Starbucks. I got to know the servers and was shocked they barely made minimum wage.

Actually don't like their coffee. Tends to be over-roasted, and since I don't care for lattes or other deep sweetened coffee drinks, no reason to go there.
Oh, and there's the whole thing with the Seattle Supersonics basketball team. Not a BBall fan myself, but what he did then kind of soured me on anything adjacent to Howar Schultz. I know he's gone now, but I still won't drink their shitty coffee.

(5,545 posts)But at the airport I have gone there a couple of times as a treat. When they ask my name I say "Union Strong".
I got that from a unionizing newsletter a couple of years ago.

(13,888 posts)I order directly from their Web site and have it shipped to my house. Much better coffee in my opinion.

(6,108 posts)and as luck would have there is one of their coffee houses about 1 mile away from my house. Its a regular visit at least once on the weekend. There is another about 5 miles away, close to the ocean....and when I was working they had a coffee house about 2 miles from the office. I was never in need of PEET's and could easily avoid SuXBux.

(2,161 posts)Is pretty much the only coffee I buy. Discovered it about five years ago and I started drinking it straight black. My three cups a day is one of life's pleasures.
