When was the last time you received a PHONE BOOK? 🤔

Watching an old episode of “The Office” (last season) and Dwight is pitching to the Scranton White Pages - the White Whale.

https://www.wkyt.com/2025/05/15/good-question-why-dont-we-get-phone-books-mail-anymore/

A CDC report from 2023 shows that 76% of adults lived in households that do not have a landline telephone. So, they wouldn’t be included.

Recommended.

I've never used a cell phone. However, when going to regional cities, I don't mind if one of my kids has one to provide directions.

When I worked at the mental health clinic, a few co-workers thought it curious, even odd, that I read phone books during staff meetings.

I kept it because most business numbers don't change all that often, I would imagine. Still refer to it on occasion.

It covers the 3 small towns, a few tiny hamlets & some unincorporated areas. So, maybe 20,000 people.
Both covers, inner & outer are covered in ads for local businesses.
I think the local weekly prints it.

Though I rarely use my landline. It's just part of my high speed internet package.

And sometimes I have to talk a senior out of wanting to keep one! The last one I recently saw was a 2020 edition. The senior let me throw it out but others have protested!

I haven’t had a land line in about 15-20 years. If I need to know a phone number I can google it.

It might have been early 2000's though. I gave up my landline (also part of an internet bundle) much later than that because the bundle was cheaper with it than without. (I'm sure that made sense in some presentation to management.)

But I don't think a phone book has been delivered here in over 10 years.
