General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAmerica is in crisis. Millions may die because of the actions of Trump & RFK. Are ANY lawmakers doing enough? Hell, no.
Do you really feel the sense of urgency, the outrage, and the sense of the scale of what we are all facing when you hear any lawmaker?
I remember how Republicans used their faux outrage over Benghazi, to dominate the media coverage and destroy Hillary Clinton and portray her as incompetent. There were TEN Benghazi investigations. Four died in the Benghazi attack.
I remember Ebola in 2014 and how it was used to try to hijack the 2014 midterm elections by using Republican faux outrage at Barack Obama and scaremonger tactics to dominate the media. It was the top story day after day after day. Republicans released an internal poll showing 60 percent of voters thought that even if there was one case of Ebola in US, it should be treated as a major crisis. Two people died.
We have a crisis now. Three are already dead from measles. How many more will die from preventable diseases by having anti-vax policies, anti-vax sentiment, total disregard of scientific consensus, cuts to medical research and treatments, cuts to medicare, medicaid, and healthcare tax credits, and the brainwashing/gaslighting of Americans?
As a nation, we face the biggest health crisis of our lifetimes, and that isn't even mentioning all the other damage Trump is doing to America. I'm not going to list it because we all know.
But why is it that one side can create such outrage, such a sense of a crisis, a sense of disaster, a command of front page headlines, but the other side can't? Lawmakers must respond with at least the same level of attention-demanding outrage that we have seen before if we are to get through to voters. There are no second chances. If we lose our nation or our lives, we can't simply take it back. They have not risen to the moment, and that is reflected in opinion polls.
