Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has never actually been briefed by CDC experts before making major public health decisions, according to a departing top official at the agency.
The bombshell claim from Dr. Demetre Daskalakis came in a Thursday night CNN interview after the ousting of the newly appointed director of the Centers for Disease Control left the agency in chaos. He gave further details in an interview with the Daily Beast.
Daskalakis resigned from his position as director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases on Wednesday in response to the firing of CDC Director Susan Monarez, who was appointed to the role by President Donald Trump. He is one of four top officials to quit in protest.
In his resignation letter, posted to social media, Daskalakis specifically named Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy and said that he was unable to serve in an environment that treats CDC as a tool to generate policies and materials that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to hurt rather than to improve the publics health.
I find that the views he and his staff have shared challenge my ability to continue in my current role at the agency and in the service of the health of the American people, Daskalakis added.

(106,209 posts)he actively works to stop those who do have them from using them. Many others in the Cabinet - Hegseth, Noem etc. - are classic Dunning Kruger case studies, but RFK is malicious to the very concept of his department.

(4,257 posts)... that Kennedy does not deserve the appellation, "Jr." , or even RFK. It defiles the memory of his father, who was truly a great man whose life, I believe, was cut short by the malevolent machinations of the truly evil J. Edgar Hoover. To me, he's just Kennedy, or, if I have to differentiate him from that mush-mouthed jerk from Louisiana, Turncoat Kennedy.
But I totally agree with everything you say, as is usually the case.
Have a nice weekend, Muriel!

(4,094 posts)They willingly took the jobs they have to help destroy the country, it is treason throughout. These are not stupid people, they are incompetent to do a good job that benefits the country, but it doesn't take a great brain to destroy.
The Twin Towers took years to build, it only took a couple of days to destroy, that is the analogy that fits the destruction that has taken and is taking place since trump assumed a role he is unfit for, but then again, he and republicans are unfit to govern, not unfit to destroy.
It amazes me how someone can show up to accept a role they know they are unfit to hold if in fact their intention was to make things better, but they know they were not chosen to do that, they are chosen to pledge loyalty to a buffoon, to follow orders and to destroy, no big brain is needed to do that.
I believe that one of the best traits a human can have is to recognize their weaknesses, their defects to work on improving in those areas, and to recognize when they should back out of a situation where those character flaws hinder, and there can not provide positive contributions, but to be able to do that one must have solid principles, dignity, be honest, which are character traits republicans don't have.

(4,257 posts)... what is truly amazing is that none of these people whether they're idiots or not appear to have given a moment's thought to what will happen to them when they lose this game of chicken. And they WILL lose; that's not open to question.
For decades I have firmly believed that conservatism is a mental disorder on the dark end of the sociopathy spectrum. I despise those who have tried to give such a diseased "philosophy" a thin veneer of respectability. It deserves nothing of the sort; it "conserves" nothing, it helps no one but the filthy rich and I do mean FILTHY and, like every other parasitic believe system, it ultimately destroys its host. No? Look around you, for Christ's sake! Not just at the wreckage of America, but at the entire planet! People, it's the only one we've got, or ever will have!* And conservatives tell us that their profits are more important than the lives of their OWN children, never mind ours! So they enact laws that insulate themselves from accountability for the devastation they cause, and call us the bad guys for exposing their evil greed.
So, back to the total lack of foresight that typifies those lying through their teeth to please the Gangrenous Boil on the Ass of Humanity: Do you simple-minded skidmarks really believe you're gonna get away with such monstrously evil destruction? Guess again. You are doomed and there is NO escape for you. None. Your fate is sealed.
So get your affairs in order. The leopards are hungry, and your faces are on the menu.
*For those drooling imbeciles that think we can all move to Mars, or an exo-planet circling another star, sit down and shut up. You're too stupid to be bothered talking to.

(193 posts)He speaks of illness as if its a personal failing - the ill person must have done something to cause the illness. And since its their own fault, they deserve what they get. Even (perhaps especially) if that includes death.
This armchair psychiatrist thinks RFK Jr. is a psychopath. He is completely devoid of conscience and empathy. If people die as a result of his policies, then they die. No skin off his nose.

(100,133 posts)Hes a man that picks up a roadkill bear cub and leaves it in Central Park for a lark, for gods sake, after deciding its been in his trunk for too long. Who finds a dead whale on the beach and carries its stinking head around on the car roof to show his kids.
NotRFK has also stated publicly that his beliefs about humanity and its needs are diametrically opposed to those of his late father, his late uncles, and pretty much the public stance of his whole family. He despises us. He was put in place by Trump in order to destroy and sow chaos.

(2,054 posts)When I was in my 20's I explored radical holistic health. After letting my chiropractor treat my hypothyroidism for 5 years. I had a terrible sinus infection and had to go to a western med doctor and I found taking one tiny pill everyday changed how I was feeling, I realized that maybe I didn't know everything there is to know. I even held off immunizations for my only child until there was a measles out break. I learned a life lesson from those experiences, that apparently RFK Jr. has not.
