We are not expected to be blind followers, and indeed we should not be.

So you just tell me here and now what you think House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi has done to deserve your disrespect. The insurrectionist mob hunted the hallways for her, calling her name in mocking tones. One female said on camera that she wanted to find Pelosi and drag her from the building by her hair. One male said he wanted to put a bullet through her brain. They were quite serious about decapitating the line of succession — gibbet erected for the VP, plans to murder the Speaker on sight.

I saw this part unfold from my living-room, didn’t you?

Out of sight, the Speaker of the House was working the phones from her secure location, doing everything she could to get hold of the National Guard, among other things. This is on film from a documentarian who happened to be following her around that day — thinking it would be a normal-enough changing of the guard after a contentious election, but getting instead an insurrection.

When her home was invaded and her husband got slammed in the head with a hammer, the assassin was looking for the Speaker, intending to “kneecap her, so she’d go back to the House in a wheelchair. “

That’s just from Trump’s prior term. Before Trump there was a decades-long GOP history of making her the bogeyman from San Francisco — rather like Hillary Clinton being turned into a she-demon. It’s what the GOP does to Democratic women. It’s what they do. You really want to take part in that?

Don’t hold yourself back. Tell us all.

Disrespect can come at any time. I was high on her when she lead during the insurrection, and I was low on her lead during the President Biden election “push out”. If and when I begin to hear her support and call to action for the 2026 midterm elections, and she does make the media circuit as many others who are former leaders tend to do, I may change my mind.

* that happens whenever her name is mentioned, even in passing. She was shat upon for being too old and demands were made that she make way for someone new, someone young... but apparently she can do nothing right in the eyes of some online. If she's calm and measured, her critics say she should show more fire. If she gets angry and pointed... her critics argue that she's being too emotional and hysterical. When she talks of her faith, her haters accuse her of preaching. There's just no winning. But these attacks and hyper criticism seem to be limited to her, while others seem to be given a free pass. --- Weird.

I've lived in CA all my life and it's amazing how many conservatives have thought they can take him out. I think it's because he isn't always in attack mode and when his position isn't threatened he can be very low key so they decide he's weak and they can go after him. Usually when that happens his response take time to get rolling because he doesn't react rashly but once he gets going he's unstoppable. What we're seeing now is him building up to full speed and expanding the attack surface.

The right have done a very effective job of convincing California is this hellscape and that millions of people are leaving every year and that Newsom is the reason for all of this.

Of course that's stupid, if so many people were fleeing the state then why are we building so many homes and a apartments? Developers don't spend money if they can't sell the product. Why is the economy #4 in the world if this is all true?

I think this is part of what Newsom is now turning to that he's beat up on Trump for a while he's going to start working on changing the spin. He wants people that believe this stupidity to now question why their state sucks and yet the numbers in CA are so much better. It's going to take a long time to turn that around and if he is serious about 2028 starting now makes a lot of sense now that he's got people's attention.

Like I said people underestimate him at their own peril.

Why do I think this: every so often someone posts something like, “Which gov do you want to run for president in 2028? “ or “I really love Pritzker! But Shapiro sucks. “

Then a lively discussion ensues. Those who are not keen on a particular (unannounced) aspirant aren’t just meh about him or her, they are adamant about that person’s incredible failings.

Interesting.

Even more interesting is sooner or later Gavin Newsom’s name comes up, and invariably negatively. Some of it’s just plain weird, but it’s the implied slur. He was once married to Kimberly Guilfoyle, and that shows bad judgment. He’s too slick, his hair, his celebrity factor. He’s Californian. All of this and more is pretty much and can be refuted, but why is it coming up at all?
