We need to reignite the labor movement. So many of the things our guys fought and died for have been slowly taken back by the ruling class. Often with the help of our own members.
This culture war bullshit has disrupted the true fight. We need some solidarity.
Union strong!

(39,756 posts)Way back in the seventies. We did the work with our backs and our hands, very few machines back then. Wood ties, spiking with hammers, lining by hand. It's mostly all done by machines now.

(12,336 posts)Which, I am.
We are in desperate need! It's more important now than ever, to keep folks in their homes, if possible. Whether it's aging, physical help, etc... I'm so thankful to be able to help once again. I was out on leave from last August until just this end a May, with an injury.
We need competent folks, to train and come into the field.
My youngest is working in a care facility.
Okay, off my soapbox, lol
But, one last plug. We're an aging society, we need to take care of those that came before us. 🥰🥰🥰

(7,411 posts)Right now I benefit from my late husband's survivor benefits from the UAW. I was raised in a union family and married a union man. It has been a lot of years but I was in ILGWU (garment workers) for about 10 years. But I hated that kind of work and took some schooling to be a bookkeeper. Most of my life I did taxes and built up my own little business, eventually handing it over to the employees.
