American people and businesses deserve a rebate on the additional costs we paid due to Trump's illegal tariffs

...after we win the SCOTUS appeal.

A 7-4 ruling from the appeals court ruled that Trump overstepped his executive power to rewrite trade policy. The court wrote in its decision that the president does not have the authority to impose tariffs outright through the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA, as the administration has said.

"Contrary to the Government's assertion, the mere authorization to 'regulate' does not in and of itself imply the authority to impose tariffs," the ruling reads. "The power to 'regulate' has long been understood to be distinct from the power to 'tax.'"

The other countries pay the tariffs my ass. And there's been no amazing job growth either.

...that this ruling is in response to several suits by importers and others affected by the tariffs, so I'd expect some kind of recompense.

So we pay Trump to screw us, then pay to repair the damage.
Trump loses nothing.

...and it's true that we pay.

But what it is that Trump gains with tariffs beyond just fucking with Americans eludes me.

And yes, when the government steals from people and gets caught, they're normally obligated to pay it back to the victims out of the general fund that we all pay into.

It's not as if they're going to recover their losses by the government pretending to associate them exclusively with the revenue they collect from taxpayers.

One way or the other.

Any illusion that we will get something from Trump is just a shell game or Ponzi scheme.

To stop the tariffs allowing this to continue while our woefully slow and inadequate court system does its thing.

...most of the higher courts are dawdling on the central questions, while allowing the disputed actions to continue.

It's really something.
