August 30, 2025 at 11:07 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
It wasnt the first time the 79-year-old president was seen with a noticeable bruise. Just days earlier, Trump was photographed with a large smear of makeup covering the same hand as he spoke to reporters at the White House about the FIFA World Cup. The images circulated widely online
Yet from the countrys most powerful newsrooms, there was little more than silence. No front-page write-ups. No broadcast packages. The visible health problems of the oldest president in American history barely registered in mainstream coverage.

(55,528 posts)I save them and re-use them since I am a trained illustrator I take pride in my graphic creativity. Everything is old school...Xacto knives, tape, spray mount, rulers, perfect hand lettering, etc. One has been given to a local woman's museum since they asked me if I would contribute to it. It has a real wire hanger (Mommy Dearest/abortion theme)
They stand out and get noticed. I have my Porto-type sign created with max weather conditions in mind using a 3/4 inch dowel taped to a giant piece of foam core so that I don't break my wrist or get blown over in the winds in downtown San Diego where most of the local protests start and finish. I've used it for over 8 years and it is the only decent remedy for me since I am short and thin (thin due to tRump stress, 82 pounds).

(55,528 posts)but I don't like to stop and talk to reporters or have my picture taken, unlike most people.
I have a purpose/a mission when I protest so that is what I focus on once I am at a rally. I walk really fast and I am very loud (teaching 1st graders for over 15 years gives you strong vocal muscles I guess). I like to be at the front where I can hear the chants and I am very passionate about it. Slowing me down by taking a photo or interviewing me ends up making me fall behind the front group and then I have to run to catch up with them again. After a protest I am wiped out for 24 hours (really).
