(12,756 posts)Sorry, Christians, but it's not the End Times. Jesus isn't coming back to save us from ourselves. We have to do it all on our own.

(35,518 posts)and not just lately, but at least for the last 10 or 15 years.
Our safeguards against this used to be able to undo it a bit,
but I think it was always just a postponemet.
I have already posted what I believe is going on. It has to
do with our collective unconscious -- which is basically
fascist -- and the denial of holism in faver of the mechanistic
view of things which Descartes started in the late 1600's.
For things to change, iow, there would need to be a global
mind change that sees the world as holistic and all things
in it as one beautiful thing.

(5,545 posts)by Col. Larry Wilkerson, Colin Powell's Chief of Staff. He said that a NASA scientist had told him that, in the worst case scenarios, by 2100 there would be only enough arable land on the Earth for 400 million people. This was in Texas and the horror of this statement went right over the heads of the audience.
It's fifteen years later and we have are on pace to match the IPCC worst case scenarios. Just last month Dr James Hansen showed that the climate sensitivity, warming rate, is not 3°C as used by the IPCC, but 4.5°C. Like Col. Wilkerson said, "Where do you bury nine billion people".
