Yet another reminder of why being a pilot is a dangerous job

I'm not a pilot, but from reading through the comments, this is known as "target fixation." Because the pilot was so preoccupied with making a successful drop, he did not pay attention to the upcoming ridge. Thankfully, they all live another day. Respect to everyone who fights wildfires.

It's also a terrestrial traffic hazard. How many times have we heard one party in a traffic accident say...."I just didn't see them coming." We've all done it. Focused too intently on traffic coming from one direction and lose track of what's coming from another.
