John Jackson @hissgoescobraHe really thinks, in a child-like understanding of reality, thats hes allowed to just make up laws with an executive order. Its not even clear that he knows what statutes or constitutions are. The dumbest of times.

Article I, Section 4, Clause 1
"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of choosing Senators."
...he's giving cover to republican states to move forward with restrictions to the vote, and hoping to intimidate other state legislatures to change their requirements to accomodate him.
Pretending to outlaw voting machines by EO is wild. Trump is convinced he can just keep bullying until he gets what he wants, having convinced a small number of weak people, businesses, and orgs that he's their Mafia Don.
Of course, it's actually Stephen Miller and his goon squad calling the shots at the WH from the Federalist Society, Heritage Foundation playbook.
I heard someone say that Dems are so fired up that they'll walk across broken glass to vote against Trump and republicans. We need to make clear that Trump doesn't actually have unilateral power to mandate these things, and how deep a tyranny against the people it is that he's trying.

(2,964 posts)..or cares to know. But he knows what he wants and people like Stephen Miller and Pam Bondi are coaching him on what to do and how to go about doing it.
Trump is neither stable nor genius nor even impressively intelligent. He was born into wealth, inherited substantial wealth and learned early on he could intimidate or litigate or buy his way to what he wanted.
As has been noted, his mentality is more that of a mob boss...

(1,056 posts)...all of Trump's 7 year old type "Executive Orders" (it's an insult and massive affront to the 45 other real Presidents of the United States and not this fake President to call them Executive Orders) are gone on Day 1 of a new Presidential Administration, hopefully Jan. 20, 2029.
Most places require I.D. to vote anyway. Also paper ballots are going to make election results much slower if they have to be hand counted and talk about recounts and lawsuits galore 🙄
