The insanity is beyond comprehension.. what the hell is going on in Florida

In 1900 the average life span in the United States was 47 years.. tremendous number of kids died in childhood from childhood diseases like measles polio small pox etc

In 2000 the average life span was 76.8 years (women live longer than men,it is all averaged out) but immunizations basically added 30 years to our life spans.. I am old enough to remember the horror of polio and the people in the iron lungs.

In 2024 average life span is 77 ..

Some people cannot take vaccines, and they do not have to. We have been protected by a thing called herd immunity so that even those who cannot be immunized are protected because the viruses are caged in .. It works for all of us

So for the love all things holy, what is going on in Florida.??. They are contemplating doing away with all vaccines??

offered a job in Fla., I'd recommend turning it down. It's one thing to kill off the codgers like me, but there's no need to wipe out the upcoming generation.

I blame the Surgeon General, Joseph Ledapo. He was tied in with that "medical" group, America's Frontline Doctors. It had ties to the Tea Party and is anti-vaxx. During Covid they fought to have hydroxy and ivermectin as the preferred treatment.

Don't know if anybody here remembers, but on July 27, 2020, that group -- including Ledapo -- gathered in front of the Supreme Court for an event called "The White Coat Summit." They made their Covid recommendations. When djt was asked about the group, he said they were "very well respected" doctors.

In 2023, following an investigation, Ledapo was rebuked by the CDC and the FDA for disseminating misinformation about vaccinations. He was accused of misinterpreting data. (source: Wikipedia)

Last year, during a measles outbreak in Fla., he said parents could decide whether to send their kids to school or not. CDC advised a 21-day quarantine in recovering cases. (source: Wikipedia)

It affects me personally because I can't take vaccines due to a pre-existing condition. Have depended on herd immunity all my life. Very concerning.

can bet that Texas will follow suit - they would not stand for Florida getting more retarded than them. Then we will begin to see diseases come back that have been eliminated or under control for decades.

This is what you get when you have an undereducated public. We are witnessing the decline of America, and it is happening very quickly.

These idiots might want to visit an old cemetery and read the headstones of the little kids who died from diphtheria. I recall one image of five headstones, side by side, of kids from the same family who all died of diphtheria within a few months of each other. The heartbreak must have been unimaginable.

17. Florida Surgeon General Ladapo takes aim at all of the state's vaccine mandates
Wed Sep 3, 2025, 05:55 PM
Sep 2025

School districts have required children to be immunized against all kinds of diseases for decades. In Florida, officials hope to roll back the clock.

As DeSantis’ administration in Florida targets *all* of the state’s vaccine mandates, remember:

If Lapado & Co succeed, Floridians would start exporting contagions and serious ailments to other Americans — and in all likelihood, even to other countries. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Steve Benen (@stevebenen.com) 2025-09-03T16:59:56.509Z

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/florida-surgeon-general-ladapo-takes-aim-states-vaccine-mandates-rcna228838

The Washington Post published a memorable analysis in 2022 that noted, “For months, we’ve written in this space about how the Republicans’ pushback against coronavirus vaccine mandates could foment — and apparently has been fomenting — opposition to mandates of other vaccines, including for schoolchildren.”

With this in mind, the latest news out of Florida is dangerous, but it’s not altogether surprising. NBC News reported:

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo said Wednesday that the state will work to eliminate all vaccine mandates. ‘All of them. All of them,’ he said during a news conference as the crowd stood and erupted in applause. ‘Every last one of them is wrong and drips with disdain and slavery.’ He said the Florida Department of Health will work in partnership with the governor. He said forcing vaccine mandates is ‘wrong’ and ‘immoral.’

No other state has gone nearly this far.......

But that perspective is mistaken: If Florida moves forward with plans to target all of the state’s vaccine mandates, not only will children suffer from preventable diseases, but Floridians will start exporting contagions and serious ailments to other Americans — and in all likelihood, even to other countries.

In 2021, The Washington Post’s Benjy Sarlin noted that it seemed likely that the United States would “end up with fewer vaccine requirements in some places than we started with before the pandemic” that has killed millions of people around the world.

That might’ve sounded ridiculous, but four years later, it’s an unsettling assessment that’s holding up well.

Point out that we don't want convention-goers to fall ill or bring deadly preventable diseases home to other states.

AARP should rally its Florida members to protest to their legislators over this.

We need a national boycott on visits to Florida.

What else can be done?

that this is just a MAGA thing. Remember Kennedy himself was running as a Democrat just last year. Also, I vividly remember being very worried about the anti-vax movement being allowed to fester on the west coast until increasing outbreaks finally forced California, Oregon, and Washington to act on it in the mid 2010's. Though I give them credit for eventually moving in the right direction, we are not blameless for the horrors that are about to come.
