(258,716 posts)We were in District 20, got redistricted in 2013, part of the north country. We inherited a moderate Democrat, Bill Owens from up north, but in 2015 he retired and I went to the meetup to meet his chosen successor. I liked him, made GOTV calls for him, I'll never understand how Stefanik won. The protests began immediately and she refused to release her schedule because protesters followed her around. And that was before she became full on MAGA. She did make an appearance at a local event up north recently and she was boo'd off the stage. So who is voting for her is a mystery to me.

(2,016 posts)This district should be a top target for Dems to take next year.
Shes proving to be another typical toadie for Trump, while acting bipartisan and independent.

Thank you for your kind attention to this matter

(20,980 posts)Thank you for this list. Now we know. I live in MN-3 now. Kelly Morrison is an OB/GYN. She has knowledge of what sexual abuse does to women.
I have friends all over the country and I wanted them to know of these deplorable women and who to organize peaceful protests so that they DO NOT get re-elected in 2026.
All DUers should do the same on Social Media to spread the shame of these women in the House in voting NOT to release the files. Who are they protecting?

(22,870 posts)I don't see anyone on here from Illinois. There are only 3 Republicans in the House (2 men and a woman) from Illinois, out of 17 districts. I take it this means the woman signed the petition, which is great.

(77,843 posts)Durning a debate on the House floor she spoke ill of the late Matthew Shepard* with his parents
watching in the galleries above the floor. Shepard was a student @ the University of Wyoming
and met 2 men in a bar who picked him up and drove him out to the country and beat him and
left him to die tied up to a fence all because he was gay. A friend of mine who was in Congress
@ the time told me that story and was appalled by Foxxs lack of basic decency.

But screw all of those child rapist protecting shits who thanx to dirty voting, bigotry, ignorance,
and gerrymandering keep their jobs in Congress.

(4,154 posts)I thought they were the worst of the worst, the dumbest people in Congress. Either they are MAGA enough to be purists on this issue, or they are dumb enough to not understand that Trump will be implicated.
It also seems possible that they are being allowed to sign as long as the needed number isn't reached. Like Collins and Murkowski are allowed to vote against Trump's bills in the Senate. They are allowed to appease their constituents as long as it doesn't make a difference.
It's any additional signers who will have their lives and families threatened if they sign.

(4,268 posts)Nancy Mace certainly has. Boebert seems to have run with the sort of crowd where that could have happened to her.
I'll bet some of those who refused to sign have at least experienced men groping them or coercing them to touch their genitals, even if they were not raped. Cowards.
MadameButterfly
(4,154 posts)The Republican men are clueless. The Republican women transcend politics because of their experience. At least a few of them.

(77,843 posts)Trump was part of an international child sex trafficking operation, was raping children,
and liked underage girls that looked like his daughter. Both the men and women in
Congress who gave him support in covering up his sex crimes need focused tv, social
media spots, and billboards that call them out for who they are.

(17,728 posts)Lisa McClain - Michigan (gerrymandered district)
Her only contribution since being in office is to put forth a bill "defining what a woman is". I kid you not Self-professed ultra Catholic put in office by the GOP to overturn Roe v. Wade. Per usual, she had no experience in public office whatsoever.

(14,624 posts)Tell them, or their staffer, in no uncertain terms. that you will hold them RESPONSIBLE as a supporter of pedophilia and the sex trafficking of minors if they do not sign the discharge petition. Then, if they still haven't, do something about it before the election. Start distributing flyers with that information. It doesn't have to be salacious or nasty, just informative. It would be very interesting if these flyers found their way into the hands of parents with young daughters. This goes for any other RepubliKKKan who also hasn't signed the discharge petition.

(21,876 posts)I am so so so tired! Women cannot be the only ones to know right from wrong, to want to protect children and women and worry about the future. Most of the authoritarian research I have seen shows misogyny is a major part of it.
