(11,796 posts)about arguably the worst crime of this century so far, and using it as a POLITICAL RAT FUCK that honestly, I think is beneath even Roger Stone.
THAT is an action that should, finally, ENRAGE the democratic party into the action that is clearly requires of this moment.
NOTHING should be done until congress passes that discharge petition, and under armed federal Marshalls those files are pulled from the DOJ in their entirety, because now the DOJ has admitted they can't be trusted.
Give us the damned files, or we WILL shut the whole thing down.

(53,387 posts)Far-right activist James OKeefe released a secret recording of a top Justice Department official talking about the Epstein files ... and the DOJ responded with the most bizarre screenshot.
The Justice Department on Thursday scrambled to address alleged revelations about the Epstein files published by James OKeefefounder of the far-right Project Veritas, known for its hidden-camera stings, in which individuals are secretly filmed disclosing information about the organizations that employ them.
OKeefe shared a video that, he said, showed an undercover operative eliciting eyebrow-raising statements from a top DOJ official, Acting Deputy Chief of Special Operations Joseph Schnitt, about the departments files on the notorious late sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, as well as a supposed deal with Epsteins convicted accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.
In the secret recording, Schnitt acknowledges that the Epstein files do existthousands and thousands of pages of filesand goes on to detail the DOJs plan.
Theyll redact every Republican or conservative person in those files, leave all the liberal, Democratic people in those files, the official said over lunch. He also noted that Maxwell was transferred to a minimum-security prison too recently, which is against [Federal Bureau of Prisons] policy because shes a convicted sex offender, adding, Theyre offering her something to keep her mouth shut.
OKeefes supposed bombshells here, as always, warrant skepticism, as they are notoriously sensationalized and often deceptively edited.

(8,870 posts)that supposedly "don't exist?" The politicians that don't appear in videos with Epstein, oogling and snorting over potential victims? The Epstein buds who weren't in 8x10 glossies on Epstein's desk??
Riiight. That oughta clear the adjudicated rapist.

(10,433 posts)However, the "interpretation" being presented (that the FBI will definitely redact out all mentions of Republicans) is misleading at best. The guy says in his message to DOJ that everything he said was his own opinion and based on what he's hear in the media and he didn't reveal anything he learned at work. That means nobody at the DOJ explicitly said they would redact out all Republicans, just that he figures that is what they will do. Of course that opinion could be based on what he has gleaned from his co-workers and colleagues at the DOJ.
