https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-library/abstracts/confidential-informant
In other words, a confidential informant is an individual who provides useful, credible information about alleged criminal activity to law enforcement in exchange for incentives, such as leniency in their own cases, money, or other considerations.
The thing is, The FBI never prosecuted a case against Epstein so there is no reason for them to have ever made a deal with Trump.

(10,413 posts)I believe the guy in the video was giving his opinion of what he thought the DOJ would do, NOT that the DOJ had revealed to him their plan to do so. Think about it. If the DOJ planned to do that, why haven't they done it already? I don't think this guy is MAGA and therefore he is skeptical of how the DOJ is handling the Epstein files, and based on what he has seen within the Department, he believes they will do anything they need to to try to clear Trump and Republicans.

(623 posts)This deceptively edited video is the product of empty-souled, uber right wing liar, James O'Keefe (who was fired from Project Veritas).
https://www.msnbc.com/top-stories/latest/epstein-files-redaction-hidden-camera-doj-rcna229348
Given OKeefes track record of dubiously editing hidden-camera clips to advance his political agenda (which I've covered here for MSNBC in the past), the substance of this particular video should be taken with a boulder-sized grain of salt. But that OKeefes agenda now appears to include targeting the Trump administration over an alleged cover-up of the Epstein files is indicative of the growing right-wing backlash to the administrations efforts to block the files release.

The rest of us are forced to listen to this bullshit? I don't think so. This man (Johnson) should be examined for having delusions and hallucinations.
If Trump was an FBI informant, it would pretty much be like Elvis asking Nixon for credentials to be a narc. And Trump is certainly NO Elvis Presley.

(79,252 posts)speculation that after Epstein and the felon broke up, the felon believed that Epstein had reported his money laundering for Russian banks to US- English- Israeli intelligence, and so he dropped dime on Epstein's domestic tax crimes. It is more likely than not that there is a file documenting that speculation existed, rather than answering if he actually contacted the FBI. But keep in mind that at the time of the break-up in their relationship, the felon was tight with the infamous nest of primarily retired FBI agents in NYC.
John1956PA
(5,119 posts)I do not know the reason for his antipathy toward the Clintons. My only point is that the FBI office in southern NYC hosted a certain core agents who were of a particular ideological/political agenda.

(79,252 posts)There was a group of them who had served in Vietnam before joining the FBI. They were tough, intelligent men, though I don't like their politics. They were the ones that did the investigative work that Rudy G used to prosecute some of the mob. They pretty much formed a unit that helped Rudy become mayor, then challenge Hillary Clinton before dropping out. They despised both Clintons from the time Bill became president. I did not understand it then, and still do not. But they did their best to spread disinformation and misinformation on both.
They disliked President Obama and President Biden. But they hated the Clintons.
John1956PA
(5,119 posts)I have wondered if it was shared religion beliefs and ethnic backgrounds which set the platform for gelling the agents in a homogenized mindset.
Regardless, in their operations, they need to have one another's backs. Mutual trust is a unifying factor.
H2O Man
(79,252 posts)Though I'm no fan of their politics, that mutual trust allowed them to go after some very dangerous people. And they were good at it.
I am under the impression that it was their experiences in dangerous situations in Vietnam that cemented them in the FBI. Regardless of my opinion of the war from a social-political view, I respect the young guys who fought there.
