Bought out of bankruptcy, new owners aren't going to pay past winners, only future ones

Didn't PCH make it so you could still enter, but your entry would take longer to be processed than the magazine buyers?

That's what I remember anyway.

One year they got caught throwing away entries that did not have a subscription.
Blamed it on contractors. The next year, I wrote them asking why should I enter a phony
contest? Boy, they wrote back quickly saying they got it fixed.

to get out of financial obligations.

Case in point - if you are hiring a contractor, don't ask simply how long they have been in business, ask how long they have been in business under the same name. Getting you driveway paved, getting your house painted, the "warranty" they supply will be worth nothing if they declare bankruptcy a few months after completing your job and resurface a little later, in the same business, but with a different name.

So many printed magazines have ceased publishing in the last several years, it isn't a sustainable business model.

Same with video rental or one hour photo developing chains.
