Trump administration tells Abrego Garcia he now faces deportation to African country of Eswatini
The Trump administration told Kilmar Abrego Garcia on Friday it is now seeking to deport him to the tiny African kingdom of Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, according to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement email obtained by CBS News.

The email from a top ICE official noted that Abrego Garcia's attorneys have warned he fears being persecuted or tortured in Uganda, where federal authorities threatened to deport him last month after he was detained once again by immigration officials following his release from criminal custody.

It seems manifestly immoral and unethical. It violates basic empathy (what would you do if a government shipped you to a country where you have no rights, no due process, no recourse, you don't speak the language, you have no connections?). How can any moral person accept this? And it's oddly supported most by people who have never left their state or even their county! The absence of basic human empathy is shocking beyond belief. Like, I seriously don't get it.

I guess Hannah Arendt was right: the first right you have to have is the right to have rights at all.

It isn't the same as "We have the right to refuse anyone and then force you go to x,y,z bar".

Of course deportation is more complicated. However, it is civil process and in Abrego's case, it is illegal to send him to El Salvador. So they should find a similar country such as Costa Rico (which has agreed to accept him) or Mexico and send him on his way. Civil processes are just that and the parties come to consensus.

Unfortunately, if Abrego is found guilty, he can be deported to El Salvador, since the guilty verdict would erase the 2019 removal hold.

He is already being persecuted by Donald trump.

Did trump offer the king of Eswatini some gold in exchange? No tariffs?

Extremely high rates of HIV/AIDS.

As of 2019, Eswatini has the highest prevalence of HIV among people aged 15 to 49 in the world (27.1%).

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has identified priority and key populations as the most vulnerable to HIV infection, due to epidemiological, socioeconomic, and environmental and contextual factors.[5] In particular, PEPFAR identified three priority populations in Eswatini as the focus of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs: adolescent girls and young women (aged nine to 29), men aged 15 to 39, and orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC). PEPFAR additionally identified three key populations: men who have sex with men (MSM), female sex workers (FSW), and transgender people. PEPFAR support was abruptly cut back in 2025, causing some people to go without HIV testing or treatment.[6]

In 2025, PEPFAR support was cut back as part of the second Trump Administration's dismantling of USAID.[6] Eswatini had targeted financial self-sufficiency of its HIV/AIDS response by 2030, but the abrupt cutoff resulted in staff firings and some people going without HIV testing or treatment.[6]

Epstein had lots of dealings with Russian interests. Some degree of laundering. I think it’s age to at that that’s been established.

It’s not that Trump has links to Russians, we know that - his own sons have said so, it could be that his whole success story is BS. We know all the failure stories. Is he just a propped up tool?

Trade
In June 2025, the top exports of United States to Eswatini were Valves ($181k), Unsaturated Acyclic Monocarboxylic Acids ($101k), and Other Processed Fruits and Nuts ($100k).

In June 2025, the main imports of United States from Eswatini were Machinery Having Individual Functions ($227k), Fruit Juice ($137k), and Knit T-shirts ($123k).

Growth
In June 2025, the year-on-year decline in United States's exports to Eswatini was driven mainly by exports of Cyclic Hydrocarbons ($-219k or -100%), Kraft Paper ($-446k or -100%), and Seats ($-481k or -100%). Meanwhile, in the same month, the drop in United States's imports from Eswatini was mainly attributed to imports of Bells and Other Metal Ornaments ($-69.9k or -100%), Knit T-shirts ($-166k or -57.5%), and Other Processed Fruits and Nuts ($-260k or -81%).

If found guilty he can also be deported to El Salvador because the guilty verdict will erase the "El Salvador hold".

He does have an active deportation order. He just can't be deported to El Salvador. However, he does have a trial coming up and in the US, you are expected to stick around and go to trial! The govt can drop the charges and deport him to a third country right now if they wanted. However, I think sending him to a hostile third country based on hearsay of MS13 is illegal. Right now, he could be deported to a country like Costa Rico. Mexico etc. but only if charges are dropped against him. Otherwise, he is required to stay here and go to trial.
