Lynn police also acknowledged a video on social media depicting the officer becoming incapacitated while working. The department said, amid the ongoing investigation, the officer appeared to have "experienced a medical related episode."

Police didn't share the officer's name, when the incident took place or information on the video that prompted Friday's statement. They said their review involved body camera footage and discussions with medical professionals.

"While we do not typically comment on ongoing investigations, we believe it is important to address public concern," the statement said.

The investigation will review any potential contributing factor, police said, noting that placing the officer on leave until the outcome of the investigation follows department policy.
