Training Day

“Every battle is won before it is ever fought.” – Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

Since July, I have been recommending that people contact their elected representatives in DC to request that they support the effort to release the “Epstein files.” This has included on DU, and a number of other internet forums, at rallies, and other meetings with associates in political activism. There is nothing easier than making a phone call, sending an e-mail, or even using “snail mail.” More, at this time, there is nothing more important one can do. Not that there are not equally important actions, but none more important.

As always, I urge people to request a response from their elected representatives. This is especially important when that representative is a maga republican. We want to put them on record, despite knowing that deceit is their language, and lying their tongue. For this is the preparation we need to do before next year's mid-term elections.

I am including a response from one of the more obnoxious House members from Florida, a mere shell of a man who lacks the capacity to tell the truth twice in a week's time. One of my closest long-time associates had not gotten a response from her first contact with his office. Being experienced, she knew to contact his office yet again, asking for a response. Though this guy is in a safe district, she knows that this will allow his opposition to hold his feet to the fire next year. He may win, but he will have to explain himself at a time that voters will be tired of politicians' excuses.

Since I sometimes send Ms. Fein links to my essays on this forum, she gave me permission to include his office's response here. I told her that I hope it will encourage others to contact their elected representatives, including both Democrats and reptilian. As she is a student of the methods of the Irish in minority politics, she said she hoped it helped. I told her that is women like her that will allow us to save democracy. (I shall send her the link to this.)

Dear Ms. Sinn D. Fein:

Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts regarding releasing all files related to Jeffrey Epstein. I appreciate hearing from you.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform issued a binding subpoena to the Department of Justice requesting all documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. In addition, the Chairman requested all relevant documents from the Epstein estate related to both Maxwell and Epstein, requested Epstein and Maxwell bank records from the Treasury, and issued 11 deposition subpoenas for testimony. As of September 1, 2025, one deposition has been taken, and one interview has already been scheduled.

On September 2, House Oversight Committee released 33,295 pages of Epstein files, https://oversight.house.gov/release/oversight-committee-releases-epstein-records-provided-by-the-department-of-justice/. I am proud of the work and collaboration between the Committee and DOJ that led to the collection and release of these files. As additional Epstein-related documents become available, the Chairman has vowed to publish them to the public.

On September 3, I proudly voted for a resolution directing the House Oversight Committee to continue its ongoing investigation of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. In addition to issuing subpoenas for all documents, including those related to the Epstein estate and Treasury, and deposition subpoenas for testimony, the resolution also calls for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jeffrey Epstein’s death, the operation of sex-trafficking rings, and ways for the federal government to effectively combat them. Unlike other proposed measures, this ongoing investigation is already producing results. My priority is to provide justice for the victims in a safe and responsible manner. Any alternative approach risks the reckless release of sensitive material, including child sexual abuse content, the names of victims who have explicitly requested privacy, as well as the identities of whistleblowers and undercover law enforcement personnel.

I fully support President Trump’s efforts to ensure the complete release of all documents and testimony related to the Epstein grand jury, recognizing that transparency is essential to uncovering the full truth behind this deeply troubling case. Equally important are the DOJ’s ongoing discussions with Ghislaine Maxwell, whose testimony regarding individuals connected to Epstein’s sex abuse network could provide critical insight and accountability. I also have every confidence in the diligence and thoroughness of relevant congressional committees as demonstrated by the House Oversight Committee’s recent subpoena of Maxwell, underscoring our unwavering commitment to rigorous oversight and ensuring that justice is served without exception. As this vital work continues by the appropriate entities, I remain steadfastly focused on advancing solutions to the everyday challenges facing my constituents.

You can rest assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind if I am given the opportunity to vote on this or other relevant legislation in the future. I will also be sure to share your views with my House colleagues. I am certain they will benefit from your views
.

I have been communicating with my friend, including since she got the link I sent her. She said that she hopes this encourages the DU community members to contact their elected officials, and publish their responses here.

When it comes to Democrats, I think it is important to contact those leading in the Good Fight, even if you are not in their district or state. Let them know that you appreciate their efforts.

I remember years ago, though I am a life-long resident of NYS, I was contacted by a Democratic Party candidate for the House. Though he recognized that he had little chance of victory in an overwhelmingly republican district, being our party's candidate would allow him to speak the truth that people needed to hear. I said that in that context, I would be glad to volunteer my services, and say things in stronger terms than I might if the contest was closer. He said, "Go for it!" -- and, of course, I did.

We need to bring in the tide. That includes making it harder for the republicans in "safe" districts and states. Make them expose themselves in a manner that forces them to focus their full attention and resources on their campaigns, reducing the amount they can help their fellow slime.
