We were invited to a last dinner for the whole conference, including reps from most Spanish-speaking countries in the Western Hemisphereeven Cuba and Puerto Rico (not even a country, we know, but they got their own delegation anyway), plus Brazil-DUH! Were in Rio!-, the USA and Canada. One of our guys was born in Brazil, and my Spanish and French are close to fluent, so we had the event covered. What they did NOT tell us was that after dinner, a percussion band and some of the top carnival dancers showed up and put on quite a little show. I am very fortunate that my wife was there, or else I might have a harder time explaining THIS photo:

(60,437 posts)And we are already in the Paris airport, after the 10 1/2 hour overnight flight from Rio. Our 50 minute flight back to Düsseldorf is, of course, delayed by about an hour. Welcome back to Europe!

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
