The latest SCOTUS ruling is incredibly disturbing. The majority giving no explanation for their ruling is even more disturbing.
I also cannot find any legal explanation of the implications of this ruling so my imagination may be running a little wild here.
As I read understand the the brief details, SCOTUS is saying, essentially, that people of color no longer have access to fundamental rights of the Constitution and that people of color can now be arrested for any reason or no reason at all. It can be based on just what they look like or where they happen to be standing.
This is incredibly disturbing and I cannot understand why the Internet is not on fire over this.
Is my understanding of that SCOTUS ruling wrong?

How many people carry their passports or birth certificates with them while they're out doing normal errands?
How many people in LA were assaulted or spent hours - or days - in handcuffs while a group of petty masked bullies in cobbled together uniformd decides they want to show some supposed "uppity, lying illegal" they're the boss?

(980 posts)I agree no shadow docket. If you need to issue an emergency ruling, do it, but schedule a timely explanation of the issues, even before a full hearing.

(24,438 posts)The SCOTUS just enabled the administration to hang a big "Whites Only" sign on the entire country. It's sickening to see our Constitution basically become worthless in 8 months.

It will be interesting to see their reaction when he decides he doesn't want to waste time going through the process anymore, and does away with the lot of them.

WTF is going on? SCOTUS must want an oligarchy too. This is beyond corrupt.

Basically that race/ethnicity alone can't be cause for reasonable suspicion, but can be taken into account along with language, type of work, location, etc.
