They are making laws by fiat for the benefit of one man.

(35,238 posts)During yesterdays opening statement, the judge shared more details about herself, such as her upbringing, schooling and interest in law. Her explanation of her name, Ketanji Onyika, struck an especial chord.
When I was born here in Washington, my parents were public school teachers, and to express both pride in their heritage and hope for the future, they gave me an African name; Ketanji Onyika, which they were told means lovely one, she said. My parents taught me that, unlike the many barriers that they had had to face growing up, my path was clearer, such that if I worked hard and believed in myself, in America I could do anything or be anything I wanted to be.

(502 posts)Calvin ball is a game invented by the comic strip character Calvin of Calvin & Hobbs. When playing the game you make up the rules as you go along. This court is a disgrace.

(387 posts)Why does Justice Thomas agree with this ruling? He may feel privileged while he sits in his black robe on the bench with a lifetime appointment. But I bet he would feel moral outrage if he was racially profiled while driving his Harlan Crow gifted RV through some parts of the deep South and pulled over by cops for Driving While Black. And how would he feel if a diner wouldn't serve him if he was with Ginni because of anti-miscegenation laws still in bigoted white minds. Some hillbilly lynch mob wouldn't care if he protested, "Do you know who I am?" It boggles the mind to witness POC's participate in acts against their own interests, the interests of others and the nation.

(3,233 posts)It's his goddamned fault. Everything "depreciating" our laws and government can be laid at his stinky feet. And I will hereafter refer to him always as "Stinkyfeet". At least until just after it began meaning disloyal and, therefore, treasonous to question publicly the Holy Substance of any and all of SCOTUS' exhumations, including the majority of its membership,
But Roberts is the Leader of the Court. On his shoulders rests the guilt, the disgrace, and the dishonor, for the ending of America. The subordinate judge walk pretty much in lockstep close behind him -- except for the 3 good ones, of course.
