At least in my experience. The ones whose lives revolve around their religiosity, well, they usually have some huge skeletons lurking in those closets.

my Bible tells me that if we train a child in the way he should go, when he is old he will not turn from it. So I think faith and guidance can help fortify a young woman's sense of self, a young man's sense of responsibility, and a sense of reverence that all young people should have for the act of sexual intimacy.
secularists are wrong when they ask believers to leave their religion at the door before entering into the public square, the majority of great reformers in American history were not only motivated by faith, but repeatedly used religious language to argue for their cause. So to say that men and women should not inject their "personal morality" into public policy debates is a practical absurdity. Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

(19,876 posts)Yes, there are moral religious people, but there are also a whole lot of people who use religion as an excuse to do terrible things because they are "forgiven" for everything they have ever done or will do.
So, they can claim morality while doing Epstein/Trump style things. Look at the Evangelicals who swear that Trump is a "godly man".

The higher the ranking/importance of the John, the better.
Now, how does Amy Coney Barrett "fit in"?

to and from DC and New York were to capture names for his list. Hillary showed up early as someone who had accepted a seat on a private plane to DC and from photos, you can see them at some of the same NY galas. (I remember just praying, Please God please dont let Bill be on the flight manifest for the island )
Ghislaine was a socialite Epstein had the social skills. Everybody whos anybody and has money goes to those galas. Ill bet theres lots of photos of those two with the high and mighty raising money for the Museum and Opera and whatnot.
So yes, I figured this for a very Soviet-style operation. Some men he hooked onto his island and that lifestyle, and some men and women he just schmoozed with and offered friendly favors to, like a ride on his jet for business in big cities. All names in his book. All in his web of influence to some degree.

(28,066 posts)BTW, I rather doubt there is an actual "list." Nevertheless, there should be plenty of ways to determine the identities of Epstein's "guests", "customers", and "friends.

(46,228 posts)Epstein's first arrest came in 2006. Kavanaugh didn't become a SCOTUS justice until 2018.
The Madcap
(2,032 posts)Not sure about Kavanaugh. He might have been too young and obscure at the time. But there are older folk who would have been more prominent then...just saying.
EdmondDantes_
(2,079 posts)The only one with a clear potential link is Samuel Alito. Acosta who gave Epstein the sweetheart deal was a former clerk for Alito. But it's hard for me to make that jump given it's sadly very common for sex predators to get very light sentences. See Brock Turner or that guy from BYU who started abusing a 5 year old, etc.
There is someone named John Roberts on the Epstein flight log, but it's a common name and there's no other public connection.
Ponietz
(4,424 posts)I wish a Senator would make the connection and publicly ask JR to eliminate himself from the association. Its time for confrontation.
EdmondDantes_
(2,079 posts)There's nothing actually connecting SC John Roberts and Epstein and it's a pretty common name, plus there's no evidence that the person in question was anything other than a passenger somewhere, not even to Epstein's island.

(1,076 posts)"he began his career as a law clerk working under Judge Ken Starr." That would be THE Ken Starr. "Kavanaugh had urged Starr to ask Clinton sexually graphic questions,[52][53] and described Clinton as being involved in "a conspiracy to obstruct justice", having "disgraced his office" and "lied to the American people".[54][55] The report provided extensive and explicit descriptions of each of Clinton's sexual encounters with Lewinsky, a level of detail the authors called "essential" to the case against Clinton."

"In December 2000, Kavanaugh joined the legal team of George W. Bush, which was trying to stop the ballot recount in Florida"
-- from Wikipedia.
He's had such a sterling career.
BlueKentuckyGirl
(545 posts)Just read the NYT article about how JP Morgan enabled Epstein. Towards the end of the article, it mentions that Starr represented Epstein sometime around 2006 when JP Morgan was thinking about cutting its ties with Epstein over the whole sex trafficking allegations. So, a loose connection of Kavanaugh to Epstein, but still a connection.

(1,562 posts)I have talked to women/girls who were trafficked. I will never forget this one woman, who at the time was a teenager, would sit under a judges desk, and 'play' with him and nobody knew. She said this to me, totally deadpan. Maybe he exaggerated, maybe not. But, this stayed with me.
Every time, I think I have heard the worse of the worst, there is always something even worse. Is it any wonder that women would rather meet a bear in the woods?

It's either some very high ranking people and/or what they did to some of the girls is worse than what we thought.... and there might be pictures or video.
Epsteins sex trafficking ring went on for almost 20 years. Think of the number of girls/women who haven't come forward.
