Trump Republican tries to have it both ways -- and pays the price

Rep. Russ Fulcher (R-Idaho) is facing criticism on social media over his stance on the Jeffrey Epstein saga.

In a post on X on Monday, Fulcher wrote that "Every single Epstein file should be released," and attached a recent interview with KTVB, in which he discussed how the late disgraced financier’s case should move forward.

In the video, Fulcher first pointed to a discharge petition circulating among the House, which aims to force a vote on requiring the Justice Department to release all government files related to the Epstein case. The measure, first filed by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) last week, has secured 215 signatures as of Monday afternoon — just three short of the number needed to advance.

Fulcher also noted the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the DOJ’s handling of the case, which ultimately propelled it back into the national spotlight. In a memo released in July, the agency and the FBI concluded that Epstein did not keep a “client list” of public figures and confirmed that he had committed suicide in prison in 2019.
